Going down the cheap & cheerful route which do the job pretty well to be honest, search on this subforum for Mintex and you will get the codes quickly or I will dig them up for you. Also, search for Carbotech, going to the other end of the price scale. I am using the Mintex pads at the front, combined with Audi OEM ones on the rears, along with new drilled OEM discs all round and while the overall bite/stopping power is perfectly good to me, I have experienced fade a few times already on runway landing-style long braking ;)

Pagid fronts are £95 through Euro Car Parts which I thought was cheap.

I have to be honest and say that the Mintex aren't the cleanest imo. Like an awful lot of EBC's pad range, the yellows get really mixed opinions from what I have read if memory serves. I know they have been mentioned in some length on certain forums. From my own experience of EBC pads (and I have had a good few), they aren't all that great and I am pretty sure I have used green, yellow and rad, but not the blues. I wouldn't go back to them again by choice but that is just my opinion of course.

Look down Shopp's very useful guide and you will see the Mintex codes - http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=90358

I would seriously have a search on the carbotechs too while you are at it as you may decide not to risk it for a biscuit on cheaper pads but for everyday braking the Mintex should do you fine.

Amar, I have seen and experienced first hand what the studs in the pads do to the discs mate and I simply wouldn't do that again but that's just me.

Thanks for the heads up Mr. Footlong, how about these that JohnnyB from JJB Motors is selling.
As per title Ferodo Premier pad's to fit B7 RS4 and C5 RS6 front callipers. I use these myself in my own car and we fit a lot to customer vehicles. They work well from cold with good pedal feel and are also up to high speed driving. I have run these on trackdays and they have performed well. Been softer than DS2500 and DS3000 don't wear the discs out as fast which is expensive. These have anti squeal shims fitted and wear indicator wires.

In stock £120 inc vat a set which also includes Royal Mail 1st class delivery.

The Ferodo's are certainly worth considering and I almost went them myself. Can't remember if they may be a little more squeely than others or if there are no real downsides to them and unusually for me, I was just being cheap.

Just wait until the proper techno-nerds chime in with some really useful info instead of the guff that we are slinging around ;)

Haha, Shop - that's your que.

I've been looking at brake pads as I have a few days off work soon and want to do something DIY, I can't do the servicing as I only allow MRC/Unit 20 or at worse case Audi do that to retain resale values, but no one looks for a brake pad stamp. I'm going to get the discs skimmed from a BMW specialist I've used before, although they are only about 8k miles old iirc, Grizz reckons they are corroded slightly, car had been standing a lot so not sure if it was that. I usually only buy parts from Audi or TPS but recently I bought an oil filter for my BMW and it still had Mahle stamped on it which is what I could have got from GSF for half the price! Is Pagid OE? I've already dismissed Pagid as per footlongs post but just curious.

I reckon I'llgo with these as I've seen them recommended along with a disc skim and a fresh set of brake fluid.

People can go for pagid fronts if they want as the studs aren't until you wear them down a fair bit but unless you like checking the discs every so often I would just avoid. I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere about if Pagid rears have the same studs in or not.

needing new pads myself. Ive an account with R53 engineering for mountain bike stuff and theyve offered to do me a set of their Endless pads. supposed to be far better performance with longer life and also less wear to discs. anyone tried them?

Knew I had this somewhere - http://www.yellowdogracing.com/Audibrakes.htm

Look halfway down for exactly what to expect from worn Pagid fronts.

I reckon the ferodo will propbably be quite good, but noisy and dusty. They are a competition pad, after all.

Other than the metal stud surprise in the pagids, I think they are quite good pads.

Dipper, try out the endless ones and let us know what you think :)

I agree with Mr12" about the Mintex - I have them on mine and I'm OK with them until I get the C6 setup running properly.
