So this was the S4 that flashed at me then, it looked great. Can't wait to see what you guys do with it.

If I am honest the car did not do anything for me, when i looked at it, but we needed the next gen car to start playing with. We bought it because it had stronic, sports diff and a normal coloured interior, but nice it has black alcantara.

Only after i drove it I noticed it has the electornic shocks.

The kids are happy as the VIM mod was done straight away so they can watch toy story!

It has grown on me the more i drive it. The new car feel is nice, all the goodies on the MMI is nice compared to old rnse.

The chassis is not as good as the B7 RS4 - front end is too vague - feels exactly like an s5.

Steering wheel is too thin in the hands - it needs the rs6 wheel

I like the stronic but only driven it in M.

when it does high 400s, with some tweaks to the suspension it will be an awesome all round car.

have you got SDS Doug (speech dialogue system) - would have come with tech pack high (maybe with HDD nav)

its really good, can literally control everything with voice commands and you dont need to speak like obi wan kenobi either

Doug - I've found ref to both Hidden Menu enabling and then the VIM mod using VAGCOM, but it was from a US site about 3 years ago - so suspect it might have changed now perhaps. Where can I find the VIM mod steps for a 3G HDD MMI version in my 2011 S4 please?

I had not tried to use my old copy of VAG-COM and HEX-USB cable on the new S4 until tonight, but I now know it does not work. It was of course fine with both my 04 allroad and C5 RS6, but seems not to want to talk to the new systems in the S4.

I have installed VCDS 11.11.2, thinking that would fix the issue, but unfortunately not. However, I suspect the fault may lie with the old cable I have, ie: it's only HEX-USB and I suspect I need HEX-USB-CAN. Can anyone confirm that I do indeed need a new cable? I will speak to Ilexa tomorrow (the people who run http://www.vagcom.co.uk and where I bought it 7 or 8 years ago) but thought I'd check with you guys first.

Doug - if I don't get anywhere with this, can I drop by for some of the MRC magic soon please?!

It's your cable R1NGA, you need a newer 'CAN' one.

Doh! Thought as much. Really want these VAG-COM enabled functions that I've read about though - Oil Temp, Battery Meter and VIM...

definitely need a can lead.

Drop by and we can do any Vagcom tweaks you want. If you are wanting to do some obsure things then work out how to do it first. A lot of the TTRS play around with a lot of settings in the long codings.
