Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
The wheel guys have come back to me and are going to sort out a nice deal. I forgot that I bought one of their exhaust system for one of my scoobs back in the day so mentioned that. They are 9.5, not mincing about with 8.5 so don't worry Luke
. Have asked for a quote with the Goodyears but I don't think they do Michelin and even then, can you get then in a 275 profile on a 19? A 2 second look brought up nothing but in a rush atm.

Sorry darling, the Michelins are just stretching it too much for me right now. Thanks for linking me though while I was out.
Will PM you the deals I have been given, lol sorry
. I have always got on well with Goodyear Eagles but have never done well wear-wise with them. Yes yes, the Michelin's will do the moon thrice and back but the pockets aren't limitless currently

Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
Personally I have found the Vreds excellent (275/30/19) - excellent grip and reasonably hard wearing. Only criticism is that hey are probably a bit stiffer in the sidewall than some, but I run them a 38 psi and that seems to ease things.
On my third set IIRC.

Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
I had a read of that thread a few weeks back. If the Michelins really do destroy the Goodyears on tyre wear then I think I might have to take another big one to the bottom and just plump for those? The wheel guys don't do Michelin which is a shame as their bundle prices weren't bad at all.

Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
I got a great deal from my wheel guy, F1s (275/30/19) for 80squid per corner, fitted. Can't recommend the F1s enough, ran 255/35/19 Vreds before that, they always felt like really cold F1s, front-end washout everywhere but occasional rear-end play out of twisties. No doubt they're good value for money though, they are something I'd 'tolerate' again due to cost...

Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
Thanks. Going to play it safe so the vreds are out. My main concern is west rate on the goodyears as I never got more than 7-8k on a set and at these prices that is not acceptable for me. What do you guesstimate that you might get on yours?

Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
I'm on about 16,500 miles with wear on my fronts at legal limit and rears with a mill or two left to play (I had MRC swap the fronts for rears about 1,600 miles ago).

Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
You clearly aren't doing enough miles on then going sideways
I used the earlier versions on the scoobs before using ZZ3's for a few years and I always seemed to plough through the Goodyears at a rate of knots. Stupid question but other than hooning in a straight line, do you actually do much twisty road fun at speed? May sound silly but just thinking about where you live possibly affecting your tyre wear. I could be thinking about a great big bag of bollocks of course and am making certain assumptions.

Hard to believe but our family Sportback TDi munched front Michelin Pilot Sports faster than Goodyear Eagle Asymmetrics!Mr Footlong wrote:If the Michelins really do destroy the Goodyears on tyre wear....

Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
Thanks for that, let's see what Bam can chime in on this too. If you believe all the reviews and videos etc etc, the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres seem to be as important as the 2nd coming of Christ for the tyre world...
I forgot to mention, while the sound of the exhaust system well & truly got the 'moistness' approval from the other half last night after she followed me home in darkness, she commented heavily on a suspicion that I already had. The Dectane Litec Rear LED lights. Now that they have changed out the indicators for LED ones as well (earlier versions had both standard reverse and indicator bulbs), they are POOR!!!! I thought they were bad already but she said that half the time it looked like I wasn't indicating. While I may drive it like I stole it, one thing I always, always do is indicate any change of lane or change of road etc. Going to have to see how it goes but they might have to go based on this alone sadly.

Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
I've warned people about these LED rear clusters before, probably going to be a lot worse in certain types of sunlight... not that sunlight ever occurs in this country. I do a lot of twisty stuff, I love it and go looking for it a lot. I guess 275s wear longer than 255s. Great value tyre the F1s, can someone dig up how many miles the Mooch used to get out of them?

Re: Pics of mine - aka the blank canvas!
I did the reading up and decided to take the risk. At night the main rears and brakes are perfectly good, daytime, bearable but it depends on the light and how blind the person behind you is. The indicators are the real problem, bloody awful, makes me wonder how they (didn't) test them before making these latest revisions where they changed the indicators to LED too.bam_bam wrote:I've warned people about these LED rear clusters before, probably going to be a lot worse in certain types of sunlight... not that sunlight ever occurs in this country.
