Carbon Ceramic Brake upgrade

Post by sallyh » Thu Jan 19, 2012 5:24 am

Hi all

I'm new here and own a C6 RS6 Avant Mugello Blue, and used to own a C5 RS6 Avant Mugullo Blue. Like the colour, love the car!

Anyway, I specced it with the carbon ceramic brakes. Was wondering if anyone has had an upgrade done on theirs. I've read various things about people having theirs replaced under warranty due to cracks, and in 02/10 there was a campaign to replace the steel bolts with titanium bolts. Mine is a 2009 car. If any one did have their brakes, particularly the front rotors replaced due to a design, manufacturing change by Audi it would be great to know. You sometimes wonder if all the info. from Audi headquarters gets through to Australia.

In the UK a workshop campaign (WC) was issued to the B7 RS4 for its ceramic discs. Not sure if its the same as the C6 RS6 though.

Here is the details for the B7 RS4:

WC number 46F2: remedy: Replace bolts securing ceramic discs to hub
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Hi sonny

thanks for this. I think it might be the titanium for steel bolt change as per the C6 RS6. Coincidently, I was at a track day yesterday and spoke to a C6 RS6 Avant owner who had just had his steel brakes campaigned for a bolt change. And something about pistons as well. Sigh, can't car companies sort these issues out before offering them to customers. Not everyone is obsessed with fuel economy.

there was a recall on the bolts on all ceramic fitted cars, rs4's, rs6's etc, for possible imbalance.
Quattro in all seasons for Ass Kickin reasons.
