B8 DIS Disappeared!

Post by Shoppinit » Mon Jan 23, 2012 10:28 am

Weird. Opened the driver's door to be met with a loud beep which went away once the engine was started.

But... no DIS. Blank screen, nothing shows up at all. The rest of the instrument cluster works, but not the DIS. Pressing buttons does nothing.

I'm going to unplug the battery to see if it comes back afterwards.

Anyone got any clues?

As a B8 owner for the last three years and on a few forums, i've not heard this one before.

Is yours the monochrome or coloured DIS?

I guess it's out of warranty ?

Yeah, it's the colour one. The car is from 2010 so should be under warranty, I would hope.

Bound to be under warranty. I'd get them to sort it. Dash replacements can be expensive and if this is an early indicator of future probs then you don't wanna get out of warranty and then have to stump up for it.

Be aware that even if you get this issue logged, once the warranty expires they won't let you claim it as a pre-existing condition. It would then be down to trying to get some good will outta them.
