H&R with/without H&R ARB's ?

Post by DaveP » Mon Apr 26, 2004 6:34 pm

Hey guys,

Thinking of going for the H&R coilovers, has anyone any experience of the H&R anti-roll bars...ie. are they worth getting as well, or do the standard ones suffice ??

Do you sacrifice a great deal of comfort with them etc ???

Cheers,

Dave.

Whilst I can't comment on the RS4 specifically, I fitted the same H&R ARB kit (exactly the same as the RS4) to my B5 S4 last week - it certainly reduced the roll of the car and introduced a little oversteer. A very good cheap suspension upgrade I'd say.

I have the GMBH ones, surely the ARB will not change the ride, just improve cornering but the GMBH ones certainly tightened the whole car up

Just fitted the whole H&R kit (coil-overs and anti-roll bars) and I am very pleased! Car is a little bit too low right now (looks great though!) but what a great fun to drive, tightened cornering and the whole car feels much better/stiffier when driving fast on a curvy roads. Waiting for the trackdays to come...

Now what I need -better breaks!

I have just the ARB's on the RS at the moment (springs and dampers on order), the certainley reduce the roll but do need the rest of the kit IMO to allow them to work fully.
ARB's will only effect the ride if one wheel hits a bump/hole as this will load up the bar on one side only (ie as it does in a corner) this can give a bit more 'crash' to the suspension. H & R ARB's are front and rear I beleive the GMBH kit is the rear only so would probably not be as noticable in this effect.

Started with the H&R complete ride height adjustable kit on my RS4. After 4 month I changed the anti roll bars (front and rear) to H&Rs. I love the hard ride with the suspension kit. But the differens with the new ARBs is only possible to notice under extreme use. No negative effect on the "ride" as I have notised. The H&R kit is very stiff so it is hard to notice any difference in the ride.

I have the H&R PSC kit and did order the H&R anti roll bars too but was a little dissappointed when the turned up without poly bushes had a discussion about this with QS tuning and they reckoned the standard bushes supplied wouldn't last. So at the moment I have put the eibach front ARB (they don't make a rear one they say it upsets handling) on which is supplied with poly bushes - it really seems to have sharpened up turn in with a bit more feeling that the car is going to go in the direction you point it!
