I got a Scalextric for xmas - but this is just NUTS!

Finally at age 39 I got a Scalextric for xmas (on the pretext it was for the kids, you understand...) but found this movie clip on Jalopnik today - check it out!

i used to race them when i was a kid, with my day, it was a trac similar to this, but not as fast, fully custom cars, it was great fun until it burnt down

I used to race the womp stockcar (no downforce) class when younger (10-12), that was kinda fast but the open flexi class with the bendy downforce wings were lightseed quick. The guy that owned the tracks built one up with white dot magnets, balanced armature and a bunch of other super expensive bits, the scale speed was like 250+MPH. It was a great hobby, shame it died out, still kinda big in the US. Go to any NASCAR event and you'll see a big slotcar track setup.
