Seat upholstery recommendations in South East?

Post by pDkALO » Fri Jan 13, 2012 2:52 pm

Has anyone had good experience with seat trimming people in the Kent / Sussex area that they could recommend?

I seem to be about the only person in the world with part cloth seats (Recaros), and although there's nothing wrong with them at all, I'm toying with getting the cloth sections changed to leather, or perhaps alcantara like the B7 S4

I got the car at a great price pretty much solely due to the fact it had the part cloth trim, so having saved some cash I could afford to bring it into line with most others out there, provided it's not silly money

I had my wife's TVR completely re-trimmed a couple of years ago and the result was stunning, but that was done in the Midlands, so I'd prefer someone more local for the RS - I'm near Tunbridge Wells

Any thoughts and suggestions welcomed - thanks in advance guys!

Have you got Recaro Comfort Seats or buckets? If the former, I'd consider doing a swap with you.

PM Virdee, I believe he offers a retrim service...

As Jules said, do something different if you're going down this route, good luck and keep us posted

I was actually looking for a car with the part leather seats (Buckets) when i was buying my RS4. I really liked the look of them.

I use Surrey Trimmers a lot in Addlestone. They have done some SUPERB work for me.

I've heard some good things about Oxted Trimming (www.oxtedgroup.co.uk/index.shtml).

Thanks for the suggestions - a few calls and it sounds like this would be just under a grand, which feels about right to me

Personally I much prefer my Recaros to buckets (sorry P_G!), but they can look a bit, well, ordinary, so as Jules & others said, personalising it a bit would be nice. I'll probably keep it subtle so it doesn't limit future resale too much and also not look daft against the Avus bodywork - reckon a deep red will be calling to me when it comes to decision time, even if KTM orange would be my ideal choice if I was feeling brave!
