12mm Spacers on SS+

Post by AdrianD » Wed Jan 04, 2012 9:33 am

Hi guy's,

Going to be putting an order in today for some spacers. After searching the forum it seems that the usual setup is 10mm rear and 8mm up front however, i came accross a thread where RS4414's fitted 12mm with no problems.... Great i thought, thats what i'll do then however i then noticed that he has the standard suspension where'as i have the SS+ setup.

Having been unable to find any more info on the 12mm + the SS+ setup does anyone have this combo, any rubbing issues? Guy's with SS+ & 10mm spacers fitted - do you think you can squeeze in an extra 2mm? How close to the edge is it? I really wanted the arches a full as possible but at the same time don't want to introduce any rubbing.

Thanks in advance,

Adrian.

I cant comment on scrubbing as i dont have ss but what about 12mm rear and 10mm front to give yourself a slightly better chance.
I also think that will look good

Thanks Jules, that was my initial wish as well but from what i've read on here 8mm is the max you can go without any rubbing issues on the front.... I can't find any concrete info on the rear with SS+ though

I think there will be a few factors,as we are only talking about 2mm,even down to the brand of tyre as we all
know certain brands are narrower than others even when they are the same size.

Maybe best to play it safe then, either way its certainly going to be a big improvement

Or buy 2 x 10mm first, fit them to the front and if they catch, move them to the rears and buy the 8mm for the front,
If ok then you can buy the 12s

I have 8mm on the front (with Mich S Sports 255 & Std suspension) and they do rub occasionally on downhill undulations so I suspect 10mm at the front will give you problems, although I agree with Jules you could well get away with 12mm at the back depending upon tyres etc. although may find the bodywork takes more of a hammering as arches will be offering even less protection than 10mm does ? So I think if you buy 10mm you will end up with them on the back so maybe better to try 12 & if don't quite clear then find someone with a lathe to turn them down ?

I have KWV3 coilover and they are about 15mm/20mm lowered, and im on 10mm rear and 8mm front spacers, the only time they ever rubbed on the rear was when on the motorway on route to the ring when I had my track day wheels, tool kit, jack and a passenger on board.

SS+ IIRC is an additional 10mm lower than standard. My only concern would be the fronts rubbing th arches on full lock, wich IIRC is a MOT failure.

Ive got 12mm rears and 10mm fronts..

12mm rears are the way forward with standard suspension IMO...looks phat and ive had NO issues with rubbing even with four "big lads" in the car and some spirited driving cross country!!.. :biggrin3:

Not sure about SS plus though..sorry.

Chrissy.

Sorry just to add im on standard tyres...255 35 19 p zero rossos.

Hi I have SS+ 10mm spacers all round and continentals all round,no rubbing at all on front and only once rubbed at the rears driving fast on a bumpy road. Think 12mm might be pushing it at the back with my set up. Always wondered why people went for 8mm front I must admit
