Time for new suspension especially to replace the knackered front shocks. Since I can't go lower yet due to wheel selection are there any worthy alternatives to the standard shocks with standard length springs?
Anyone used Konis with standard springs? Any issues?
I am really happy with the handling at the moment so probably don't need to go stiffer. Worth asking though as I am fed up with the diving and squatting during braking/acceleration. Can't gage how much of this is due to wear as the front shocks have covered 130k miles!!!

I'm going with the H&R/Konis but this place: www.suspension.de has lots of options in their big catalogue - maybe worth asking what they can do - although I haven't heard many reports on different options.

No Probs at all, Currently have the konis with standard springs and powerflex bushes.
handling has improved a fair bit by doing this too.

I fitted a set of Konis dampers with H+R springs to a Nothelle 330 S2 avant last year a great improvment....Set the dampers to the middle adjustment. Needed roll bars though...

I am currently running standard springs and Bilstein Sports shocks. Very smooth ride not at all choppy, slightly soft cornering and changing direction. Very good compromise between Sporty and soft. (Don't know what standard shock are like though as I bought it like this...)

Well, fitted the Konis....it only took me 15,000miles to think about it! I set them 3/4 hard up front and just under half hard on the back. Initial impression is quite good but it definately needs some stiffer springs. On stock springs and RS2 ARBs the ride is incredibly sweet and not at all choppy or harsh. It is a lot more composed and once I get my toe-in setup properly tomorrow I'll be able to get a better impression. There is still too much compliance in the system for my liking so I'll be swapping the Powerflex jobbies for something a bit stiffer...my brakes are so strong they are killing bushes very quickly. Also, I prefer the go-kart style handling my Scirocco had on rock-hard suspension. That thing was tight and extremely predictable at silly cornering speeds on good tarmac surfaces.
Final question...What is the point of an adjustable shock if you have to remove it from the car to adjust it? Front and rears are the same. Koni appear nuts for coming up with that one but after studying the design I can see they had very little option if they wanted the system to work with stock springs!

The sports are soft, it's the Bilstein Sprints that are stiffer. I have heard great things about these shocks but they only do a front shock for the B4Q Avant chasis. I reckon my rear Konis will outlast the fronts so I might try the Sprints on the front next time. I have RS2 anti roll bars front and rear with poly bushes up front and since changing the topmounts and new Konis it is much more like a go-kart. It feels fantastic with decent rubber. I have also set about 2 degrees negative camber up front too and set all other geometry to standard RS2 which has sharpened the turn in and increased grip in tight corners.
