Failed rear shock

Worth stressing not a warranty - you'd have no joy trying to enforce this.
Personally I think 400 quid for a two year warranty on the parts is not a bad deal. You really don't want to pay nothing towards the repair as this limits you completely if they fail 6 months from now.

Push for 50% and then pay it imo

Fair point regarding the term warrant adsgreen but do you not think it is a complete farce that this particular dealer will not honour the DRC TSB when virtually ever other owner on here and their dealers have? You are right the price is decent but not as good as FOC.

I'm sorry but the shock absorbers constitute part of the DRC system and the technical bulletin on how Audi techs identify DRC failure oin the Audi diagnostic system which I have seen in a Audi franchise workshop shows pictures of 'misting' (doesn't need repair) and leaking /failure on... guess what.. the shock absorber.

But it's goodwill and stumped up by the dealer - they are not under any direct obligation to accept full responsibility.
However yes, I do think this should have been handled better by Audi UK - I mean, US owners get a full recall and suspension change FOC and here we have to fight tooth an nail to get even a contribution.

Pictures are what I expect to see too - misting is common to all shocks and not only Audi DRC. So much so that it is specifically mentioned in the VOSA MOT guidelines as not a failure reason.

One thing that is worth bearing in mind is that the front top suspension mounts are oil filled and can leak too (causing fluid to appear on the outer casing). These are nothing to do with the DRC and not covered under the goodwill process.

Been on the phone again to Audi U.K. today and they have now agreed to do the work Free of charge!!
Let's just hope the dealer does a good job
What can I expect to be replaced? Both rear shocks or the opposite corner shock?
Also what valves and the like would be replaced?
I am happy to have sorted this out finally!
Car is booked in early next week

Seems to vary from dealer to dealer.

I had both front shocks and the valve block replaced, but not the rear shocks. Others have had diagonal shocks replaced...

Well the car is in the Dealers having the rear shock replaced. I had a phone call earlier saying that the DRC hadn't held pressure over night so they are now having to replace a valve. Thankfully it is all being done under warranty but I do worry that had I originally agreed to the quote would I have been charged extra for the valve and labour costs?
Hopefully get it back and the suspension will last a few years.

If they have done the rear shock FOC under the DRc warranty then the valves, extra fluid and anything else related to the system should be FOC as well. When I had my two front shocks replaced they had to replace both valves plus one of the lines and flush the system 3 times before it held full 16BAR pressure.
