Christmas decorations

Post by sonny » Sat Dec 03, 2011 2:14 pm

Is it me or are you pissed off seeing ppl with decoration up already?

Am I wrong in thinking that decorations should be put up on the 12th Dec and taken down 12 days after?

Plenty of ppl on my Facebook have there's up already.

Actually mate.... when we were kids, they went up on Christmas EVE !!!
(no age comments, please).
They then stayed up for 12 days..... ONLY.

I have part german ancestry and they didn't do all this early-decorations-bollox.
It was so much more exciting.
.... you try and buy a real Christmas tree, even a week before Christmas nowadays .... and they'll laugh in your face.

I had a heated discussion with a girl in Homebase yesterday.... she said that "Decorations should go up on the 1st December"
WTF ?
She truly believed it.

sonny if you put them up on the 12th and then took them down 12 days afterwards you'd be taking them down on Xmas eve!

Bah Humbug! :bigblink:

But I know what you mean, tree and decorations are going up on the 17th and no earlier and coming down New Years day. It's a New Year's hangover tradition.

As I suspected: Yesterday afternoon we went went to get our tree. (We thought we'd get it annoyingly early this year and leave it outside for a week).
Went to a large garden centre that we've used before.
You guessed it.... they had 2... yes TWO trees of the 6-7ft size.
I freaked at the bloke that "I didn't want my Christmas in the Autumn"
He basically said "tough mate... they've nearly run out of everything and wont be getting any more" !!
Apparently they had their first delivery the 2nd week in NOVEMBER !!!
WTF is going wrong with everyone ??

I stormed out and bought a better one from the local pikeys (reluctantly).

Ours went up on the 12th,My mate grows all his own christmas trees so we go to his fields in the warrior and make a
day of it for the little un and let her pick one.

He only charges us £20 for anything up to 8ft.

The only problem is tree's look a little smaller in acre's of fields

Atleast i remembered to cut the bottom of the tree and not the top
