Saw once on rs4.org there was a cost breakdown for a cambelt change for RS4. bushy told me its circa £800, every 40k miles
Any one got breakdown and what gets changed ?rollers, belts?

apparently the £800 i paid included the service, new plugs etc whereas the cambelt change is around £550
Can't beat a bit of boost!

I will get round to posting the details asap. The total for the warranty work related to the cambelt change is circa £520.

Here is the definative list of parts and labour for the 40k RS4 belt change. All prices exclude VAT.
078109119H - £41.00 - Belt
078109243R - £52.50 - Roller
078109244H - £30.45 - Roller
078109487A - £24.15 - Lever
Labour is 4.2hrs @ £69.95/hr (Rate for S8, RS4 and RS6)
So the total inc VAT is = £519.22

No sig, no RS4 anymore
Approaching the 40k miles, so cambelt change soon.
Just looked in the service schedule and see that 2.7 V6 biturbos require the belts & tensioners changed at every 80k.
Can't see anywhere in particular for the RS at 40k.
Last year when I was searching for the car, enquired about one which was one owner, FASH, 53K miles. Asked whether it had its 40k cambelt done and they said No, after I told them AFAIK (from RS4.org) it needed it done at 40k, they said "oh thanks, we'll do it just before its sold".
So would a non-cluded up new owner be liable for replacing the engine if something broke due to not replacing the cambelt (& by following the service schedule).
I have a long life service due about 4k miles later, so just a pain to go back to the dealer for replacing cambelt and then a service.
Also consider using AmD or QST for this (cambelt), any comments?

I recall getting a letter from Audi with the first car stating that even though the service interval suggested 80K miles, Audi were of the opinion that it needed to be done at 40K, obviuosly at that point, they had a high mileage car that had snapped a belt and they were left to foot the bill. I know 40k now is not alot, but majority of the cars at this point had very little more than 12/15k and were upto a year old.

I'm glad I'm handy with a spanner! Camblet change costs me about 60quid in parts (belt for mine is about 10quid but I change the idler pulley and waterpump at the same time on the S2) and about 2 hours labour. Same as the RS4 really...bumper off first blah blah blah. But then again, I don't have a warranty to worry about but I trust my own work more than the Stealers or Tooners. Once you do it a few times, it gets a lot quicker and at that price I do it once a year which is every 18k miles or so.
4.2 hours on the RS4 sounds VERY relaxed. I guess you have to pay for a few tea breaks too!! LOL!

My service manual states that the S4 has it done at 80K and the RS4 at 40K. Regarding what Bushy says, please take note. Why does the RS4 need it changed earlier (likewise spark plugs). Is it because the components are crap? Of course not - it's because the RS4 engine is more stressed than the S4's.
So what does chipping do - increases stress even further. So if you have a modded engine, please do not assume that the stock service schedule is OK for you because it may not be enough!
I follow a service schedule which is about 20% sooner than the stock schedule (except oil change which is even sooner).

I did think my service booklet was out of date/ wrong one originally supplied when it was registered. May be later cars comes with a revised service booklet with the relevant info.My service manual states that the S4 has it done at 80K and the RS4 at 40K.
