Sticky clutch - again..
Hi,
Went to Newcastle Audi as car still under warranty as after hard driving my clutch pedal on occasions sticks down (have had to flick the pedal up with my foot!)
I explained I thought was a clutch return pipe issue but they want to take the gearbox out and have a proper look - they said would be £600 to do this and if its under warranty then i wont get charged...
Its a bit of an expensive 'risk' when they aren't sure of the problem
Any advice?
Cheers.

Re: Sticky clutch - again..
Clutch return pipe doesn't always cure it although since I've had mine properly done it hasn't happened since so fingers crossed. I went for cheapest process of elimination route which I advise. Gearbox out seems a piss take IMHO!

Re: Sticky clutch - again..
well thats what i thought too!!
can i ask for the pipe to be replaced under warranty? - simple enough job?

Re: Sticky clutch - again..
Given that it's a know fault surely it's the obvious check - ESP as can be done insitu via dfront drive shaft removal. Bit cheaper than a gearbox check.
Re: Sticky clutch - again..
I think Timster got his done under warranty. The pipe's cheap and it doesn't take long to fit.

Re: Sticky clutch - again..
having mine done next week
same time the DRC (w/ H&R springs) is done
also having z thermal insulation sleeve put on the hose (I'm supplying it) and having the slave cylinder done (60k miles, plastic, and they seem to fail with age)
told them I'll pay for the cylinder and additonal install labor (should be minimal once acess is obtained for the hose replacement), I bet they include it under the CPO anyways

Look forward to hearing how the insulation sleeve goes Arthur.
Where are you getting the sleeve from Arthur?

a bit larger so there will be an air gap (air is a good insulator, low heat transfer)
any hotrod shp should have something similar

Re: Sticky clutch - again..
Pretty standard stuff as Arthur says - demon tweeks have lots of suitable stuff. Does do a grand job - I used it on the 211 lots as the charge cooler radiator is really susceptible to heat soak. Dropped inlet temps by over 20c.
