I too have the Pilot Super Sports, however it seems I am alone in thinking that they are not as good as my previous set of Goodyear F1 Assyms!

The PSS are noisier, heavier, don't have as much steering feel or as crisp on turn-in, and on a recent trackday at Silverstone, I'm not sure they had as much outright grip either. Add to that the fact that the Goodyear's are at least £250 a set cheaper, and they lasted over 20k miles of hard driving including 3 trackdays, 2 'Ring trips and 2 Euro driving trips, it seems like a no-brainer to me.

F1's are good but wish they did the GSD3's again, they were mega.

Click on tyres are doing the Vreds for £164.
I'm thinking about changing the P-Zeros on my R8, the Vreds are coming out at about £675 or I can get Super Sports
for £1035 from Costco with their 20% off deal.Milltek or tyres! Hmm decisions decisions???????????

Personally, I wouldn't bother with Vreds again. My current set took an age to bed-in and don't feel that assured in the dry (seem to overheat too quickly IMHO).
I'll definitely be looking for something else next time, even though I appear to be in the minority with regard to Sessanta performance.

Maybe you just got a faulty set? Had that with my second set of GSD3's on my S4 but knew they were good from the first set so went for a 3rd set and they were spot on again. Sessanta's has been great on the RS, both sets. They can be a bit of a pig to balance up properly to feel spot on, I get mine done on a Hunter GSP9700, don't quite feel right on a standard balancing machine.

Well I decided to try the Continental 5p this time after running 2 sets of the Vreds and now 6k miles , the 5p's completely take the piss out of the Vreds-which I got on fine with-,feel is most improved but so are grip and braking both wet and dry.Never really been a fan of Conti's up till now.
Always reckoned the various F1's had soft sidewalls which led to squishy handling but it looks like GY have sorted this on the assy 2.Lets hope, supposed to be excellent tyre.
PS 2 was my previous fav tyre , PS 3 not so good , PSS probably fantastic in the dry - but the wet ? Living up here in Scotland that is important , for others may be less so.

See I had that with SC3's, great grip wet and dry then from 5k miles onward they fell off a cliff and were downright scary in the wet. Would be interested to see how you get on with the 5p's when you put the miles on them.

Nope. It's the sessantas design that's at fault (imho). Apart from the hard compound, they're obviously a non-symetrical design.. which can't help.
Right... that's my tyre knowledge exhausted.
I had the RS setup on two separate hunter systems. The wheels balanced twice, and even swapped around. DRC checked and later replaced.
They are a good "budget tyre".... but that's as far as it goes.

Frankly, my old, worn Contis p*ssed all over the Sessantas in terms of feedback, grip (especially when hot) and general confidence. I'm sure they're not a set of faulty tyres... I believe they're just overrated.

I've tested another RS with the Sessantas. The drive and turn-in is identical. The owner however, loves them. I however think that with one of the better tyres mentioned, people would really appreciate grip these cars can deliver.

Interesting as I was going to try the PSS next month, but might just stick with the Good years F1A. Now the DSG3 I heard that there no where near as good as the F1A, however they do have a groovy better looking tread pattern (dont fall into the trap of going for a tyre that looks good).
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Each to their own I guess. :beerchug: I know the Sessanta's on my car are equal on dry grip to the F1's I had on it previously, equal in wet and streets ahead in the snow, budget or not.

Yup, you're right.... each to their own.
I also hear such conflicting reports on what is and what isn't a good tyre. I have now heard of only 3 or 4 people who agree with me on the Vreds (in the dry).
I am however looking forward to seeing how they perform this winter. If funds had allowed, I was considering Wintracs. As funds don't allow.... I'm going to stick with the Sessantas for as long as possible.
My Contii's last winter were awful (but brilliant in the dry), so that was to be expected.

GSD3's only Achilles heal is they rumbled badly when cold on sub 5 degree mornings but once up to temp were immense wet and dry and quieter than the Asymmetrics. But I gather there is a mark II version out of the asymmetrics so maybe they have improved again?

long way off replacing the Sessanta's with 4.5mm tread on all 4 after 18k miles and the uncoventional design works like tractor tread in the snow Timster.

I find a lot of people put new tyres on their car and then state how much better the grip is compared to the old tyre theyve just replaced - well of course it is dummies, thats the main reason you were replacing the old, worn out one!

make sure if you are listening to people's reviews of tyre performance, they are comparing apples with apples
