simple

1 Kph = 0.62137 Mph

I have survived with MPH cars in europe and KPH cars in uk and I have never been bothered by the side of the wheel or the speedo readings you learn the important ones and that is all you need....50kmh = 30mph 100=60 115=70 and so on.....so why bother...If it is LHD you should want to sell it in europe and a changed speedo aint going to help

What about someone like lockwood http://www.directcarparts.co.uk/lockwood.htm (these people sell their dials)
I had some of their white dials for my Gsi.

Just a possibility they might do something (not necessarily white) for the RS4.

Perhaps contact Lockwood directly, you never know they might be able to make something up, or perhaps a group buy???

They aren't the only people either who make replacement car dials, I'd be tempted to google for similar m'facturers and see what that shows up.

thanks for the response
i have owned and driven a variety of lhd drive cars in the uk all of which were not imported by myself.to obtain type approval ( to enable uk registration ) for this car it needs to have an mph speedo and hence the current search for help. a formal instrument change would be both expensive and in my opinion unnecessary.have tried lockwood and they don't sell such a decal.someone else must have been in this situation before and i'm sure such decals exist.further advise appreciated.
cheers imi

I registered a LHD drive car when I moved back from France -all I needed was an MOT certificatie which was issued despite it having a speedo in KPH.

You could just give it a try

Its possible to just put a bit of sticky tape for the relevant speeds, however I seem to remember (must have been on the rs4.org site) that you could get an in dial turbo boost meter in the dial, the kit came with new dials and looked very smart and if I remember not too expensive and fairly easy to fit, maybe someone could dig out the old posts for you.

My BMW passed its MOT for ten years with speedo reading KPH only, was only last year when they demanded dual reading dial and indicators in the front wings. It seems that you now must have a speedo that reads both MPH and KPH to pass MOT. There is a compnay who used to make a transparent sticker with miles on it, no need to change the clock and can be removed. I am sure I have one in the bottom of my desk drawer, used to use them on the Jap imports to get type approval. PM me and I will try and dig out some stickers for you. :bigwave:

Hmmm perhaps my memory was playing up, I have found this but thought someone did a kit as well
http://www.impconcepts.com/audis4boostgauge.htm, but at least it shows you how to dismantle and maybe you could get a sticker made or spend some time with letraset stickers

You could try approaching a sign writing company. The have some pretty good kit these days. You would probably have to either take your dials into them to measure up or alternatively get a knackered one from a breakers yard. Note the S4 has a slightly different speedo but I'm sure you could work something out!
