hmm TTRS vs RS4

Post by lengster1 » Mon Oct 17, 2011 9:06 pm

Treat myself and come to work in it and came across a TTRS on the autobahn, rolling at around 80mph, car infringe pulled over and we were off all the way to 170 before knocking it off for traffic,I had a 97 Ron fuel as its just a long boring motorway run to work and a fair bit of kit in the car,he was 1 up,absolutely nothing in it neck and neck all the way until we had to brake,no signs of it being nodded so probably stock,my car is 460ps so approx 80 over a std healthy rs4 so would imagine stock vs stock the 4 ain't gonna fair too well?

So my car was running properly then! I would imagine you pull a few car lengths at least on a stock rs4? 0-60 times are similar for both cars stock is it above that the tt performs well?

its 2 things

1. the B7 doesnt run to stock PS

2. S-Tronic gear changes make all the difference vs. the manual

although, i would have thought at higher speeds, like yours the B7 would have an advantage as the 5pot starts to loose puff after 100

I couldn't find 0-100 times in the back of EVO to compare, the lad was well up for getting a shift on so maybe it was mapped? I have to say its the only car I've come across that's lived with the RS4 in its current state of tune

I've done this against a TT-RS also with me and kids in the car with a bootfull of Tesco goods and the TT-RS pulled 4 car lengths on me and I managed to hold the gap to him (1up) thereafter until we hit traffic. So yes it is quick but I wouldn't say it was night and day? That was from 30mph onward rolling start.

S Tronic won't show as much advantage when starting at 80... Third maybe fourth gear?

That's subjective, you're supposed to have more than that as a distance gap so not really. Plus as said I'm running with kids, seats and shopping so effectively 2 up vs 1up. Like said not a blip in his rear view mirror / night & day.

Don't get me wrong, I like the TT-RS and you know that but they are not that much faster and I was carrying more!
