How many TTRS owners are on here?

Post by bye bye » Mon Jul 25, 2011 2:01 pm

Hi,

In the past 18 months I've gone from B7 RS4 to B8 S4 and now TTRS.

I miss the space of the A4 but the TTRS is a pocket rocket. Down the lanes the 5 cylinder burble and turbo whine transport me to a rally stage (in my head anyway, obviously)

The power delivery is very "on/off" but that adds to the fun I suppose. Have managed 30mpg on a varied driving style run which makes me smile.

Its a pity no-one wants to share on here with their TTRS's, they are great cars from what i have seen. Very few about here in SA. They are so over priced, there are two second hand ones for sale at equiv of GBP60k a piece.

Hody, your colour combo it the nuts, share more pics and you tube clips! Love the sound

I'm genuinely interested in how you think it drives compared to the B7 RS4 - someone turned up at the B7 national meet in a TTRS, and IMO it looked very impressive.

I appreciate that the B7 is naturally aspirated whilst the TT has a turbo & therefore probably feels a bit more "in your face", but ignoring practicality etc how does acceleration & handling compare between the two?

And as per the previous post, some more pics of yours would be good... :)

On reflection, I'd have to say the TTRS is 90% there vs. B7 RS4.

It's more explosive off the line than the RS4 as the turbo spins up quickly, more drama as quick gear changes are required....no bogging down like the RS4 (with ASR/ESP on) more likely to spin the wheels.

I have the sports exhaus t and magnetic ride. It's very responsive handling at speed as it goes exactly where you want it to (a la RS4). It's way more settled under hard braking than the RS4 but I put that down to weight. The exhaus t sounds great when on full attack.........a bit V8 in my opinion.

No DRC issues to date :boohoo: and we'll see if the brakes last longer than 13k miles before warping.

Pics.

Thanks for the comparison – I wasn’t expecting it to be quite up there with the B7 but it sounds like it’s not far off. And with the potential for much bigger gains with a remap it could be interesting!

Great pics too – I think you’ve got the best colour combo – Daytona with the 19” titaniums looks fantastic!

That looks the bizz, next step YouTube sound bite.
The clutch went on my B6 S4 the other evening, driver was bring my car home for me after i had one to many and assures me he drove it with respect and it just happened. Anyway this brings me to the point of an older car our of warranty and I am thinking come early next year its time to upgrade. If i can get an RS3 that will tick the boxes nicely but I see yout TT RS and it jusy looks so good.

Hi Mate,
I have an S-Tronic TT RS, and have owned an RS4 B7, and i have to say, the TT would leave the RS4 standing, it is far more of a performance car, than the RS4 imho, regards, SIMON.

Have you been in a RS4???????,More of a performance car??????????????????.

TTRS is a nice car, no doubt, but LEAVE RS4 standing, :jump: :bash: have a word mate.

EVO STATS:
RS4 TTRS
0-60 4.5 4.4
0-100 10.9 11.1

So there you have it, left standing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No real world difference in the standard cars IMO, not bad for a big saloon v's coupe

I stand by what ive said. If you look on the TT forum, a standard TT RS S-Tronic has been measured in under 9 seconds to 100 mph. with Vbox.

Yes, i bought a new RS4 in 07. I had 3 long test drives of the car, and was still unsure of it, when i signed on the bottom line. I remember feeling like i was always waiting for the performance to come, and it never truly arrived, i know it kicked a bit more at around 5.5krpm, but for me, it just didnt happen. I sold the car after around 2 months. The RS4 was to die for, in the looks department, and when you pressed the start button, it made me smile every time. But, even that pales into insignificence, when you remove the secondary cats on the TT RS S-Tronic, and run through the gears on WOT. The accompnaying noise, well its an explosion really, will have your trousers on fire. The TT RS is one of the most underated cars out there, Like i said, one of the chaps over on VAGOC, has had the standard, yes standard TT RS S-Tronic to 100 mph in 8.5 seconds, measured with VBOX. After a stage 1 map, its doing it in 7.7, that is quicker than a standard 09 GT-R, and gen 1 997 turbo. Im not out to discredit the RS4 by any means, but from my own experiences, the TT RS is a better performance car. You may disagree, and i await your findings patiently, but if you are picking one up shortly, you are in for a treat. My car is standard as, ive been waiting for REVO to sort out the remap, but the lads with remapped cars tell me, even this is tame, compared to a mapped car, regards, SIMON.

What's the bypass 2nd cat mod?

Is it cheap and easy and can it be put back to stock easily?
