MK Meet - Wednesday 3rd August

Wednesday 3rd August for 7:30pm at the Caldecotte Arms, Milton Keynes.

Any enthusiast welcome. Potential MK meet newbies please post below so we can look out and welcome you! Usual suspects please post your interest. July saw 11 attendees having opened the meet up to both RS246 and spin-off forum Audi SRS also (follow-up pic posted in last months thread). Hopefully the weather is sunny and we get to eat outside overlooking the lake for the first time this year after it was sadly particularly breezy for Julys meet. As mentioned previously, the food is very much part of this meet, we usually order approx 8:30 - 9 ish.

For any newcomers (or forgetful old timers) the Caldecotte Arms pub is by the junction of the A5 and the A4146 right next to the oddly shaped - and now smoothly resurfaced - roundabout under the A5 (great for testing your Milltek). Turn into the car park, drive down as far as the pub and then turn left towards the back. Look for the Windmill! (see below)

Hi Ian.
Do you think it would be an idea to move your MK meets nearer the middle of the month ?

With the Ace Cafe always on the first Sunday... attendee numbers could get a bit diluted (for both meets).
Just a thought !

It's been the first week of the month for the last 7.5 years so that might piss off the establishment!! Originally Tuesday, think it was Thurs for a bit, has been Weds for last five years. I think Ace should move - we were here first!! (joke)

Know what you mean though - they are bit close - at least I can get away with only washing the car once for the two of them!!!

Being serious for a moment though, if they were the same day obviously I wouldn't post it on here. Discussion earlier on SRS about weekday evening vs weekend daytime meets - I personally like the variety. I love the Ace Cafe one - gutted I cannot make August or Sept due to a wedding and 60th wedding anniversary respectively.

At one stage on Tyresmoke another meet tried to change its date to the very same night as MKs traditional slot before the establishment stepped in. The frustrating thing was that it was a meet I'd actually personally been to before and enjoyed (Jct 25 M1 Derby Nottingham). Any arguement that they were too far apart to be an issue was flawed - I driven through MK to get there!! Now THAT was stupid and diluted numbers.

Haha, yeah I copied and pasted that together five years ago - time to do a fresh one maybe!

One of our chaps was there from 7pm this time, straight from work, the rest of us arriving from 7:30 onwards. Much better now we dropped the "7:30 for 8" and simply commence "at 7:30pm" - gives us more time.
