Braided Lines to Suit 993TT kit

Post by s8n » Sun Mar 14, 2004 11:13 pm

Hi Guys

Can anyone tell me what stainless lines are needed for the calipers on my Audi S3? Im installing my kit next week and have to get these...

I did not buy these as a ECS/AmD kit so its all seperate..

Can anyone provide pictures of the fittings or perhaps a link where I can get these??

Thanks :)

i "think" mine are the same lines. maybe with different banjo bolt fittings...

they certainly look like the black audi plastic coated brake lines....

Sita's took these on/off more than i can remember, maybe he can help.

The standard S3 pipes will be very sufficient for the job and will fit the 993TT caliper fine without modification.

I remember AmD stating that the standard lines are very good and don't flex that much.

Personally I wouldn't change them unless you really have to.

Really? so forget braided lines, ie metal ones? So you guys with Porsche kits are using the standard S3 rubber hoses?

I think most S3 owners are..

must admit that I don't know about the S4 but I'm about to find out as I will have the same kit to fit my S4 soon..

Cool.. At least I know the Porsche Calipers can use standard S3 lines with no modifications, so if I get braided lines to suit a S3 it should work too :)

I bought 2 kits from ECS (one for my S3 & one for my brothers TT) and have the braided lines (were included in the kit). I am not sure whether you can fit the S3 lines directly to the 993 calipers. If i remember correctly the banjo bolt fittings are different on the Porsche Calipers. I will be able to tell you for sure in a couple of weeks, because a friend of mine is waiting for his kit & i could check for you. I think that ECS now sell the braided lines seperately.

OK time for some clarification. If the banjo bolt fittings are different for the Porsche Calipers, then why was it I was able to take Dunc's Porsche 993TT calipers off his car and replace them with the standard calipers without ANY changes to the brake lines/bolts etc?

His brake line which was previously connected to the 993TT caliper bolted straight on the standard S3 caliper no problem..

OK some confirmation. Niko is correct in that you will need a slightly different bolt to fit the standard brake line to the Caliper along with a couple of washers. I've just queried this with AmD. Hence why the 993TT calipers work with the standard hoses...

Hopefully that clears that up!

Ok, so they take standard lines.. That makes it alot easier ;)

Ill go and take my caliper to a Brake Shop and get some S3 lines.. Ill test fitting whilst im there..

Its the best way :) calipers are off the car now.. so its all easy..
