RS4 and bluetooth
Looking to buy an RS4 (if i can find the right car) and would prefer it to have handsfree.
Im a bit confused by what options were available for bluetooth - was it either with a phone cradle on the dash (very fuglly) or in the armrest ? or could you get bluetooth without these two bits ? also what woul dit have been called so i know what to look for in adverts ? - im presumeing the GSM phone prep is the phone holders on dash or armrest ?
Also does the bluetooth connect ok to Iphones ? knowing how picky iphones are with bluetooth.
Thanks for your help.

Re: RS4 and bluetooth
Audi only fit the phone kit with either the dash cradle or the centre armrest cradle.spikeyboy101 wrote:Thanks - so does bluetooth only work if you have the phione thing as well (either on the dash or armrest) ? i deffo dont want the phone thing on dash, and would prefer not to have it in the armrest.

But many people have fitted only the Audi BT phone module without the cradle (that's what I have).

Re: RS4 and bluetooth
Thanks guys.
I have the top of the range Parrot in my S4 which i love as it give me Ipod conectivity as well, and a nice color screen showing whats playing etc - it does work very well.
Just wanted to know what the Audi option was to keep the clutter on the dash down a bit on any new RS4 i find - but seeing as not many seem to be available with both Bluetooth and ipod the parrot is probably going to be the best option. Plus i hate those damn phone cradles audi put in for the bluetooth - did audi forget large Nokia phones went out about 10 years ago

Re: RS4 and bluetooth
How easy is it to remove the GSM phone cradle from the Dash if it is fitted - and if removed does the bluetooth still work ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: RS4 and bluetooth
bluetooth will still work without cradle but you may need to code the module to tell it no cradle.
You will also need to replace the console, this is £100 for the part and isn't fun to do.

There's no difference in the coding whether the cradle is fitted or not.neckarsulm wrote:bluetooth will still work without cradle but you may need to code the module to tell it no cradle.

Re: RS4 and bluetooth
I hated the dash cradle on mine with a passion!
Tried to persuade Audi to remove and replace the console when the car was brand new as a goodwill gesture (How can that be acceptable on a £55K car?)
They wouldnt, but they did sell me then new centre console at cost, and I paid an independant to change it. That was March 2007 - no probs since (the connector to the dash cradle is tucked up above the glove box in case it was ever needed)

Re: RS4 and bluetooth
Done by swiftsperformance in sheffield. Well known in the area for VW / Audi sales and service.
Happy for them to do it as it wasn't a service item, or anythign that would have affected the warranty. Seem to recall about £250 all in - but as said before that was March 2007
