The original RS for sale

Post by teknobod » Sun Jun 12, 2011 10:30 pm

The car currently has 166,000 miles with a full and comprehensive service history, and passed the MOT yesterday with no advisories. It is also taxed until April 2012. The car is just below average mileage, but benefitted from a full engine and turbo rebuild in 2001 at around 105/110k (This is documented in an A4 ring binder crammed with servicing/parts receipts and invoices totalling over £20k)

Prior to my purchasing the car and all in the last 5k miles, the previous owner had spent a significant amount of money refreshing and upgrading the car, including 'Big Reds', Milltek cat back exhaust, new air con compressor/dryer and recharge, new alternator, new engine mounts, cambelt and tensioner, Samco boost hoses, various ball joints, anti-roll bar and wishbone bushes, braided brake hoses, door mouldings (Receipts and invoices in history file)

Since purchasing the car in Oct 2008, I have had the following work carried out:

N/S/F bottom arm replaced - discovered original was slightly bent on leading edge.
OEM suspension replaced with Bilstein sport shocks - original N/S/F shocker was knocking. While dismantled, suspension components were bead blasted to remove any corrosion and repainted.
New OEM top mounts fitted.
Leaking oil cooler replaced with new genuine part.
Leaking rocker cover gasket replaced.
Nylon seat runner bushes replaced.
All 5 wheels powder coated.
Fitted new OEM caliper bolts as the originals were knackered/odd despite the car having had the big reds fitted shortly before purchase.
Replaced both headlamp lenses/rubber seals and missing lens retaining clip.
Propshaft centre bearing replaced with OEM item (not the cheaper sub standard BMW item)
Replaced all dashboard illumination including outside temperature display.
Fully stripped, repainted and refurbished rear calipers with new bleed nipples/link pipes and seals where needed.
Cooling system flushed and 3 litres G12+ added (Header tank cleaned at same time).
15V regulator fitted to alternator.
Laserline CAT 1 alarm fitted.
Later style RS2 Airbag Steering Wheel fitted.
Noisy heater motor replaced.
Common failing water pipe replaced with silicon item.
PCV and flame trap replaced. Breather pipework cleaned.
Battery replaced.
Strut brace repainted and missing end caps replaced.
Crystal side repeaters and front indicators replaced with aftermarket units. (Still have originals)
Various other clips/fixings replaced with OEM items.
MTM mapped chips fitted(~365bhp) make the car more driveable, but original chips also with car.

I also fitted new tyres to the car which have less than 500 miles on them, although these were a budget brand as at the time they were required for the MOT I'd just had to replace a central heating boiler. They're perfectly fine for general use, just don't plan any track days unless you enjoy a challenge.

I have the original leather owners wallet(embossed with both the Audi and Porsche logos) and manuals, plus a copy of the original Audi/Porsche logo'd brochure, MOT certificates dating back to 2001 and copies of old registration documents identifying the last 4 owners prior to myself (7 owners in total).

Mechanically the car is spot on and the bodywork is by no means bad - it's just not perfect. There's a small rust bubble (about 5mm diameter) on the tailgate just below the glass, some of the laquer has peeled on the rear bumper just behind the offside rear wheel, and a couple of other minor blemishes but far less than you would associate with a 17 year old car. I'd rather be honest than have a potential buyer disappointed when viewing the car. A full detail would rectify the majority of marks.

I am looking for £10500.

Andy, I hope you get to keep this beautiful car given your investment to date.

You know how I feel about her
I'd very much like to have her back in our fleet but I don't think the time is right. But if you can't keep her, I'll go away and start praying for a miracle

Car serviced this morning using Silkolene Pro S and genuine filters plus front brakes stripped and cleaned.

So 12 months test, taxed till end of April 2012 and annual service completed, nothing more to spend now until next year except insurance and fuel!!

Re: The original RS for sale - reduced

Post by teknobod » Thu Jun 23, 2011 10:06 pm

I've got my eye on another project, so price is reduced to £10k no offers unless this opportunity passes me by.

Leather has just been cleaned & conditioned with Gliptone products this week too!

Ok, my new project has now gone ( ), so as I've paid for the ad on Ebay, I'll let it finish then take the RS2 off sale. I may consider selling again later when the market picks up.

Bump from page 3 of the classifieds!

I presume this is still sat in my garage as a result of the current economic climate, or am I missing something?

Whatever the reason, the car is still for sale as I now want to get my B5 RS4 itch scratched before the government decides that all us NHS employees are surplus to requirements!!

I've already missed a number of tasty RS4's so reduced slightly for a sub 10k bargain.

Now £9800, but can't afford an RS4 if I take any less, so no offers considered.
