Problem with DRC and Steering - help!
Re: Problem with DRC and Steering - help!
That's it! two new shocks, two new front brakes, two new pads, brake fluid change, 8 spark plugs, the 2011 update of the RNS-E Sat Nav (copy bought online
) and a new steering wheel cover (the little RS4 logo had gone in the hoover during service so the whole bottom cover had to be replaced) and my car feels like new!

Expensive?
Plus where you get the sat nav disk... im is WELL out of date!

Re: Problem with DRC and Steering - help!
well, the whole lot came just under 1,600 so it's not too bad considering the disks make for most of it,
the shocks were taken half by Audi Ireland and half by Audi Centre,
the NAV is a copy but it works perfect. It's a guy from France who make these copies (40 yo-yos instead of at least 250 from Audi)
I can PM you his contact if you're interested (lots of lads from Audi-Passion forum used it succesfully too)

Re: Problem with DRC and Steering - help!
In fact his email address is splashed on the Audi-Passion forum so I suppose I can put it here too, he won't mind
dvdcyril@gmail.com his name is Cyril, not sure if he speaks english, but worth a try
for info, with his 2011 version, I have all the new Irish roads, round abouts etc... that have been openned prior to June 2010
so it should be well up to date for the UK and rest of Western Europe

Beware, copies make the laser work harder and have lead to premature laser failure in many cases. This issue has been well discussed on www.audiforum.usAwd4 wrote:the NAV is a copy but it works perfect. It's a guy from France who make these copies (40 yo-yos instead of at least 250 from Audi)![]()

yes I agree, but everyone seem quite happy with the result and really recommended that source, so I made the jump... will keep an eye all the same and at the first sign of something going wrong, I'll take it out (the disk not CyrilPetrolDave wrote:Beware, copies make the laser work harder and have lead to premature laser failure in many cases. @edge: No, nothing left, not even a sausage at this stage... will have to wait for the other side of Christmas for either DMS or Milly.. but that's OK because the way she works at the moment, I am really happy

Glad its all sorted and back on the road. Looking forward to the C&C Meet in June...... JackS4 motor is something to be heard..... you will sell everything to get a milly when you hear this in person!
Re: Problem with DRC and Steering - help!
I can imagine the sound of it....
although I must say, I am always torn between the idea of keeping it totally ex-stocks or spicing it up a bit..
Like she is, she is perfect for my use - discreet and subtle enough below 4k rpm, the look is elegant, with its extreme sportivity dressed up in an Armani suit, equally at ease parked outside the Ritz or outside my local Shop in Leighlinbridge.
if I want to play a bit, a depression of the S-Button gives me all I need on our back roads in terms of sensation, grip and sound
I know I would love to have the sound of a milly screaming its rage behind me when I am in a 'blast' mood, but equally I like the idea of crossing Kilkenny quietly when going to work at 8.30am...
so after almost 4 years, still not sure if I want to make the jump with a milly...

Re: Problem with DRC and Steering - help!
I've seen enough people on www.audiforum.us have the hassle of having to replace their laser to make me never buy anything other than a genuine DVD, and they can usually be got on eBay for a lot less than Audi charge.Awd4 wrote:yes I agree, but everyone seem quite happy with the result and really recommended that source, so I made the jump.PetrolDave wrote:Beware, copies make the laser work harder and have lead to premature laser failure in many cases. I get mine from a contact in Europe, so I'm usually running the new maps in October but Audi UK don't start selling them until February - and I don't pay "rip off Britain" prices.

Sounds good, are they original DVD then? How much are they and can you pm your contact?
For peace of mind I wouldn't hesitate paying the extra money but not 250/300 euros though..

Re: Problem with DRC and Steering - help!
Hurray! Just got an email from Audi Ireland which informs me that they are extending the DRC goodwill for 12 months (in which time the car will be 5 years)
they were firmly camped on their position to cover 50% only so I guess my email to Audi Germany went a long way! (cheers Gumball0r
)
so if everything holds well till then, I will have a thorough check in March 2012 before the goodwill expires
thank you all for your help!
