Different people buy the RS4 for different reasons, and not all of them are to do with speed, but if a 2.0t A5 is keeping up with an RS4 then I can understand the op asking questions.
Buy something quicker then.
People forget the RS4 is now 6 years old and times move on. Watch the top gear episode where they compare racing cars of yester year with production cars of today.
I had a second RS4 for 24 hours over xmas and driving that back from Scotland was great, it didnt feel underpowered at all and I would have been happy to own it had the DRC not been fooked! Having said that I was under no illusions that in certain conditions turbo deisels and the like would probably embarrass me, was I bothered? not at all, I bought the car for its character and ability to give me a smile something that although my current M3 saloon is quicker, feels more direct and nimble does not do. Believe me if they made the same RS4 today new, I would have had one.

Who...
Me? The op? Everyone on here with an RS4?

I'm at peace with my decision, there aren't many other cars I would change to, even supposing I had unlimited funds.

The RS4 is 6 years old, yes.
The RS2 is 16 years old. Is it much slower?
If you're making the point that Tdi's have come a long way in 6 years, then yes, I guess they have. I still don't think many people on here would want or expect their RS4 to be outgunned by a Tdi, just as an R8 owner wouldn't want to be outgunned by one of us.
Or you in your M.

Honestly Irvind it wouldnt bother me if i was out gunned by a sinclair C5, it does not matter to me, I buy cars for me.
Theres no end of talk on M forums of chipped 335ds beating M3s. No interest to me!
My point is quite simple if you choose a car be happy with that decision or move on. Its no good marrying Jordan if your going to be sniffing around Kerry Katonna in 6 months time.

If I got smoked by a 2.0T I'd blame

a)my driving skills
or
b)a fault with my car

for (a) I'd consider if I was in the right gear (the op wasn't)
and if I was I'd then start looking at performance issues with my car.

I wouldn't even entertain the thought that a 2.0T A5 was a rival to my car.

Absolutely.

I met Kerry Katona once, told me I looked like Alan Davies the comedian.
She was definitely after some.

Wonder what female celeb we could liken the RS4 to, Angelina Jolie?
She's strong, good-looking and very versatile.... ;)

You cheeky ****
:bash:

Interesting comment by Arsey that I should go out and buy something quicker, the fact is I thought I already had !

I do not own my car for bragging rights, but I do enjoy having a certain amount of performance exclusivity on the road, There are cars I respect and cars that I don't, a 2.0T A5 fits into the latter category and it irritates me that there is not a bigger performance gap in terms of real world driving.

I also find it interesting that everyone says I was in the wrong gear, as it probably takes 0.5 secs to change gear, im not sure that it would make much difference, I say that based on the fact that during this "tear up" I also did 50 in second to near the limiter and then 3rd the rest of the way, this chappy was still not far behind me.

Ice, real world driving is for real world cars and the RS4 is not that, it's a folly, nobody needs its performance.
No manufacturer will make a car and say this is the best at street racing and traffic light GP.
Our cars have been honed on the 'ring which has little in common with the real world so it's a champ on the world's most challenging circuit at the expense of its " real world" performance.
My suggestion would be to rise above it.
You were in the wrong gear or you had the wrong race :)

Sorry Ice, Julian Clary is a low blow.
I meant Louie Spence as he's muscly but still a bit..... :)
