Confirmation on Best Tyres for the RS4

Post by JohnnerLad » Tue May 24, 2011 8:19 am

Sorry to ask, but what is the feeling within the RS246 B7 group on which tyre works best on the RS4?

Many thanks in advance

Mark

Bridgestone RE11's are my pick (Disclaimer: I'm in Australia so there is not a lot of snow or ice :P )

I haven't tried the Eagles.

The candidates are;

Michelin Pilot Super Sports
Michelin PS2's
Goodyear F1 Assymetrics
Vredestin Ultrac Sessanta's

Take you pick dependent on budget, expected performcne and durability.

Had two sets of Pilot Sport 2s which were very good. Drive quite hard as used these two sets by 25k miles.

Drove two RS4s with P Zeros, which were a bit noisy and less grippy.

Have done 1000 miles now on Pilot Super Sports. Expensive, but outstanding so far. Quieter and sharper - appear to have astonishingly high treadwear index of 300, which is unusual for such tyres.

Recommended!

Just fitted 4x Vredestin's on mine on Saturday. So far I'm loving the grip levels compared to the 'well used' Conti's and the fact that they are £80/90 cheaper than the Conti/Mich's makes it even sweeter!

Conti's on mine, not too impressed with them. Had michelin pilot's my 3.0 TDI and they were superb. Might cost a few quid in 20" though.

had 1 set of P zero's when new, went through 1 set of Bridgestone R050, now on my 3rd set of Conti.
Conti's my favourite for grip/durability/comfort ratio IMHO :thumb:

Wow, there's a turn up for the books. I has SC3's when I bought my RS and they were a liability! Never again.

What is the view re. michelin super sports against michelin pilot sport 3s? A lot of good things said re. the PS2s but little take up on the PS3s - assume people are now going for the super sports?? I put on the PS3s just before the super sports were released!!!!

Had 4 x new Vredestin Ultrac Sessanta's fitted 500 miles ago - very happy with them. Good grip levels, improved ride quality and bloody good value plus the tread pattern looks good
