tyres
Re: tyres
When I first got my car it had p-zero on and they did about 8k , since then had 2 sets of vreds and got 10 - 12k per set and liked them on the whole but they lacked ultimate grip in the dry if thats important , for me winter grip was more important where they excell for a summer tyre , their braking performance can be bettered too wet or dry . The p-zero's performance in standing water is borderline dangerous but in the dry is actually a good enough tyre . However I fancied a change this time and went with the contisport 5p a couple of months ago and they have been a huge improvement on the vreds , the feel is amazing and would recommend them but as yet tyre life or snow performance are untested

Re: tyres
My experience of P-Zero Rossos is very similar. My car was delivered with them fitted, they lasted me 9k miles but never inspired confidence when the roads were wet or even damp. Result? - I'm never letting P Zero Rossos anywhere near my car again.bfettie wrote:When I first got my car it had p-zero on and they did about 8k

I've had PS2s and F1 Assymmetrics and been happy with them both - I'm going to need new tyres sometime soon and I'm torn between the new Pilot Super Sport and Sesssantas.

Re: tyres
That is a good point. I have put a note in my diary to swap the tyres front to rear after 3,000 milessonny wrote:These cars are heavy at the front and have a tendency to under steer a lot (even if you dont realise) So it is norm imo for the fronts to wear more. If you regally track your car the NSF will wear the most. If is worth swapping tyres around (fronts to back) to get equal amount of life out of the tyre. I have rotated mine twice now.

Re: tyres
I am running P zeros on mine and have found them excellent in the dry, also had them on my M3 which again i thought they were a good tyre but not so good in the wet, cant remember how many miles they lasted, mine came with these but might try the goodyears next, so these rims are ok with a 275 wide tyre? why go to a 275 as i have read some people do on here?

Re: tyres
Yes 275 is the upper limit for the standard RS4 wheels.moto15 wrote:so these rims are ok with a 275 wide tyre? why go to a 275 as i have read some people do on here?
Why 275?
1) Initally the Goodyear F1 were MUCH cheaper as 275/30 than 255/35.
2) Better rim protection.
3) They sit further out and look better.

Re: tyres
Mine had Goodyears on when i got it then the dealer put pzeros on as part of the deal they feel very smooth but the seam to tram line a bit and they don't last, i might go for Goodyears is there any issues with 275/30 is the ride harder/any steering issues and does it put your speedo out

Re: tyres
I think you need a wheel alignment check:RS4Owner wrote:I fitted all 4 corners with Goodyear F1 Asyms after a puncture. Now 6500 miles later, the RS4 failed MOT on exposed carcass on front tyres. The rears are about 50% worn (forget how many mm that is).
I drive mainly in city but I do like to drift every tight corner and roundabout. That may have something to do with it but is it usual to experience much higher front end wear?

Re: tyres
No negatives with ride or handling (many say positives), they do make the speedo slightly more inaccurate as the diameter is 1.97% smaller (648mm instead of 661mm).wellzieRS4 wrote:is there any issues with 275/30 is the ride harder/any steering issues and does it put your speedo out

Re: tyres
30 profile on a 19 wheel will make the speedo 2% faster. If speedo reads 100kph you will infact be travelling at 98kmh
I have some track day wheels on 18s with 30 profile to be delivered soon. So I will be 7% out. 100kph Speedo real time 93kph

Re: tyres
When discussing different tyre/wheel sizes all you can do is discuss the difference between OE tyre/wheel size and the proposed size.Steve_C wrote:plus the typical 5% over-reading of the speedo
To a first order approximation the speedo offset is fixed whatever wheel/tyre size you fit.
