Great news Dan.

Well given that you're doing so many miles what about a 1.9TDI with a remap
You should still get well over 40MPG and it won't be sluggish.

I just can't buy a diesel, I just can't.
RS4 is tempting but I really want the 993 TT, but need a garage for that.

I'm thinking fun car for less than £5k (ish)

Mondeo ST24
Volvo 850 T5
Fiat Coupe
Vauxhall Vectra V6 Gsi
BMW 540
Nissan 300zx
Mitsu GTO/GT3000
and I'm sure there are others.

Really looking forward actually, it'll be nice to own a car outright for a change, and there's no hurry as I still have my trusy polo and the wife (still can't get used to that!) has the Saxo.

Good luck with your search mate

Cant say I would choose any of those, maybe the ST24 as it may be cheaper to run. I did have a Mondeo V6 Ghia X as a company car once, same engine. Not really any complaints but now I would think you will find it so slow compared to the S4

Mitsu & Fiat- expensive on repairs so I believe

T5 - its a Volvo

BMW - very thirsty but luxurios

The GSi is a contender

Tricky, good luck with your desicion and regards to missus lady

I just can't buy a diesel, I just can't.

Dan, get yourself a test drive of a 150bhp golf pd tdi - you will be gob-smacked with the grunt these cars offer - and they have so much tuning potential - the garage I use for servicing my S4 has a 250bhp diesel race-car based on a 150pd engine - smokin' (literally!)

Nige is the the Golf PD150 is a stinker of a car, especially when its been tweaked . Danksy had his last summer and he wasn't far off keeping up with me !!

Gook luck with whatever you decide on Dan.
