Getting as much air in and out of the engine is key to more power so filter should be a plus. I actually got a new ITG filter in mine last week (had same in previously) and even that was noticeable - ever so slightly torque-ier though the old one was a mess (thanks to my own stupid attempts at DIY maintenance LOL).

Just be careful whoever is fitting your Milltek knows how to shut off vacum pipes etc.

The filter is such an easy win that it is almost rude not to go for one. Plus as long as it is not wallet destroying like a GruppeM its great value for money. Though I wouldnt part with my GruppeM, the noise it makes is simply outstanding. I am grinning now just thinking about it!

GruppeM is the daddy for sure though the inexpensive ones (£50/£60 for ITG, BMC, K&N etc) can make a noticeable difference to the induction sound also.

Absolutely, dont get me wrong, I am not suggesting a GruppeM is the only one to have, mine was a second hand chance find. Any quality performance filter is a definite easy upgrade, I must admit I have not heard an RS running a new performance panel filter, anyone got a sound clip?!

Right,

Just rang MRC and changed my booking to include the other work should my dyno results indicate that its necessary.

Without a doubt I am sure my dyno results will indicate that its necessary!

Few days ahead of you on the 28th of May. Be interesting to compare how we both get on.

Yep, I have already had work done back in May, had fill Milltek (200cell cats) BMC filter, Custom remap, cleaned valves, devaned and ported IM. Made 441ps.

It should be a great comparison as mine will be identical apart from the cats. By all accounts I should expect about 10ps less than you.

Yea its doable. MRC have a lot more experience with the B7 since then, a lot can happen in a year. Im also having the quiet start up mode put on as part of the remap.

I know this is slightly off topic, and these may be dim questions as I'm not at all mechanically minded.....but if I was to replace my OEM air filter with a K&N one (for example), should there be any noticeable effect in torque/power? And is any remap needed or can I stick with SW0090 and just replace the air filter?

Cheers....Si

With a panel filter you should be fine to run SW0090 but I am sure a remap would help, however as per what the gains would be I'll leave that up to someone with more experience than me to comment. I dont think I noticed any difference with my GruppeM other than the sound but I only use my car in the weekends and I might miss subtle improvements through lack of regular use.

I doubt even that, 1-2bhp tops. Better noise definitely, Gruppe M may produce better gains. IIRC did sonny not have an article about diferent filters inc. Gruppe M and the dyno gains?
