Short Shifter?

Post by 07_RS4 » Wed Apr 27, 2011 1:42 am

Hi All,

Wondering whether or not RS4 owner's on here even bother chnaging out the stock shifter for a short shift set up? I recently purchased a JHM SS and I can;t say I am enjoying it too much. There seems to be a lot of adjusting that needs to be done in order to "get it right". Im leaning towards putting the OEM unit back in. Thoughts?

I've had my JHM for 2 weeks and I'm absolutely loving it, and more importantly, so is my wife!!

I believe that correct installation/setup is very important, and so I left that to some specialists (still only cost 2 hours labour)

Also, i believe they recently released a 'new, improved' version - is yours new or secondhand?

i'm not sure what you mean by "adjusting to get it right". do you mean adjusting your style, or you can't get the right gear?

I think its brilliant, a but notchy, but i like that. Ive never missed a gear nor got the wrong one, and as the change is a lot quicker, Ive noticed less jerky changes or less clutch riding.

I had the stratmosphere short shift, was great on track, only minimal wrist action needed to change gear, however I did find it notchy (like most shortshifs). I put the OEM when back in. As above it has to be just right, I think there is three adjustments that is needed.
