If you can't go to the track, bring the track to you.

Re: RS6 KNOCKING NOISE?
I can't see how a split cv boot can cause a knocking? I recently changed a cv joint on my RS6 due to an annoying clicking when on full lock in reverse.

Re: RS6 KNOCKING NOISE?
It will make a knocking noise on lock due to the desing of the cv joint. Also, if your boot has been split a long time and you have no grease left in the boot/joint then you will start to get some play in it, not long after that you will get a bloody good bang!!

Re: RS6 KNOCKING NOISE?
Yes my CV boot had split and dried up, no greese left and that caused a constant knocking over bumps...
Re: RS6 KNOCKING NOISE?
Strange really I was just about to start a thread that i too have a nasty little bonk when i saw this one. I love this forum !! at least i know its not too serious. Its either a worn suspension bush ( get fixed fairly cheaply) or its the DRC ( gets fixed by WD) so either way I'm not too concerned now.
One thing to add about mine is that its been leaving an oil patch on the drive for last couple of weeks, its located centrally under the car and i ( and others) believed it to be the rear gearbox seal, but could it be the DRC valve ??

Re: RS6 KNOCKING NOISE?
Not read much about the central DRC valve going. I'd vote for the rear gearbox seal, that's common enough. Don't let it go too long.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: RS6 KNOCKING NOISE?
+1 The central valves stick, but I've never heard of one leaking. The shockers are the weak points hydraulically speaking.
If your ATF is leaking out then you need to get it sorted asafp.

Re: RS6 KNOCKING NOISE?
The rear gearbox seal is the last part of the gearbox from wich the driveshaft is connected.
I believe it must be filled with oil apart from the main gearbox. Mine is done to, although i cant remember exactly where they filled it...
I think they filled it at the side of the last part of the gearbox.

Re: RS6 KNOCKING NOISE?
I was going to phone MRC tomorrow to do a gearbox service and ask if they can do the rear seal at the same time anyway, that was before the bonking started. I will do this anyway and ask them to check the bushes and DRC at the same time.
If Grizz is reading this then my apologies for asking you for a cost to the job, but your about £400 in juice just to get to so I'll have to go to MRC as they are only about an hour away.
