in the USA we use the valentine one...best radar detector ever.
Laser jammers do not work....if they do it's too late.
I have always been wondering how you guys managed to drive so fast in the UK without ever getting caught...it's the first post i have seen on this subject.
In the USA we can ask the policeman to show a checklist report that the laser gun was checked and fully functional the morning before it was used.
Apparently, the laser gun freaks out if there's metal flapping in the wind...EG. an aluminium foil vibrating will trigger off the laser gun at a horrendous high speed...the policeman will think his gun is faulty...
I don't know if this is true, and i'm not prepared to drive around with some kitchen foil stuck on my bumper...

Hi fella's

I've got a bit of form in this department, currently on 8 points, 4pts twice from a not so friendly judge.

Ist time i was doing an average of 99.7 on the M6, yep 0.3mph away from a ban

Second was doing 95 on the M5

Embarrassingly the 1st was in a Kia Sedona

2nd was in a Golf Tdi

So to clarify, the Feds will prosecute you, even if only one officer is present. In Scotland however, you need two.. I have escaped 3 time on this technicality

The police must show you a calibration certificate, if you ask him. He doesn't have to offer to show you. It should be signed and time / dated for the day you were prosecuted. If there is only one pork product in the car, then he may not have calibrated the laser. It is done by having another officer drive the police car past the radar at 30 mph, and checking the readout, since the speedo on the filth-mobile is deemed to be accurate. It MUST be done that day though.

Anyway Ant best of luck, I drop out of the Premier League and back to the Conference with a measley 4 pts next month.. must try and keep it that way for a while.

So Quovadis .... we don't get away with it

Am i right in thinking that in the US you don't get your licence endorsed ( points)? Do you just pay the ticket or is there a limit to the amount of tickets you can collect without going to Court/ getting a ban.

says who ? (dont tell me "rocky mountain con the consumer radar" products. they defn do Not work)

Proper laser jammers do work.

Ant, also check the gun has been calibrated within its required interval. They need calibration every ?? 6 months??. If its outside of this, bingo ! Also, but not for you, each gun has a maximum accurate range. Even though they can get reading beyound this, they are not necc accurate, but some coppers try it on. Nomrally ~800m.

What difference does it make if the policeman was alone in his car?
I've read it as fact that a policeman does NOT have to be with a partner to do you for speeding.

Not sure on this one but it wasnt a traffic cop, therefore would have no evidence to back up his claim (such as Vascar). Dont think they would be able to prosecute on that basis.
