Road rage!

Post by Steve_C » Fri Apr 08, 2011 4:53 pm

Had a little incident today with the RS4...

Was following a white van along some country lanes. The driver was clearly lost as he was slowing down at random times and looking down lanes / at houses etc. So we came to a stright bit of road and I pulled out to overtake. It is a narrow road but plenty of room for both of us side by side. As I got along side the van it gently swerved to the right and squeezed me until my driver side wheels were on the grass verge. At this point I sounded my horn in case he hadn't seen me. Van moved to the left and I overtook - job done....or so I thought.

Around the next corner was a tractor blocking the road so we all braked to a stop. Van driver and his mate got out and walked towards my car (which had my 4 yr old son in the back). I opened my door to see what he wanted at which point he thrust a knife in my face (not enough to make contact but you know what I mean). We had a 'chat' about my overtake :knob: and then he walked back to his van but I noticed in my wing mirror he held the blade very close to the side of my car as he walked along side it.

I got out the car to investigate the paintwork and confront him about whether he had actually damaged the paintwork. He put the knife in my face region again and told me to walk away. As there was two of them and I had my son with me, I did just that (I also couldn't see any paint scratched). Glad I did walk away now, but I'm still seething about the whole thing.

The van had no signwriting on it and in all the hullabulloo I didn't get his reg number.

Sorry to hear that Steve; this is why I always carry my baseball bat (it is a steering lock that looks like a baseball bat). I have it positioned next to me where the passenger seat is. It is handy for situations like this; also police can't say anything as it is a steering lock!
You did the right thing though and walk away

Bit of a shocker, glad you and your son are okay. Strange he took offence to being overtaken? My immediate thought / fear with two of them would have been 'carjack' with a tractor in front and their van behind. Well done for keeping your cool.

Sorry to hear that mate, my guess is you startled some pikies looking to rob a house. Your average Joe Bloggs dose not do that.

Its a tough situation to be in. You did well buddy.

too many cnuts out there

had similar in my TTS ... I sort of cut in infront of someone, but no way dangerously, we were both going 5mph ... we were in traffic

he stoppped, got out of his pikey Renault scenic or something and started banging on my window

i didnt get out, just told him to f&ck off back to his car

i dont think you should have opened your door, for the exact reason there are mental people out there putting knives to people

its because you had a nice car, if you did it in a equally pikey van they wouldnt have bothered

Thanks for the comments guys - think I just needed to get it off my chest.

The way they behaved indicated pikeys but the way they were dressed indicated an electrician or plumber. Shame there was no signwriting on the van to identify them by.

Yes, in hindsight I should've kept the door locked shut.

Horrible Steve,
Shame you didn't get the car reg.

Had a similar incident with a postie outside my sons school. The postie is now jobless and bruised.

Amazing in this day and age they still think they can do sh*te like this.

been in a similar situation but not in the RS - can completely understand how you feel.
Driving on the M5 in busy traffic - car few up behind me then undertook and yanked out back in front of me - there was no room for another car so i had to brake sharpish - absolutely no point as there were another 30 cars in front so didnt get them anywhere.
I of course was on the horn and gestured a mental idiot sign. They seemed to take exception to this and emergency braked in the fast lane on the M5. how i missed them i have no idea but thought enough of that thanks. was near home so took next exit but didnt clock them following me off. was traffic lights at the exit off ramp and a cue of cars. i stopped in the que but they pulled round me and parked across my nose. all kind of happened in slow motion. the biggest, medallion wearing, jeans round the ankles, bloke got out and approached tried to open my door (thank god for auto locking) all as i just stared in amazement. his mate was out dancing about too. after he realised what he was doing he walked away but not after running his nice ring down my bonnet. it was surreal as i remember two girls in their back seat mouthing sorry to me!? they sped off through a few red lights but i got their plate. Didnt take it any further as the last thing i wanted was for them to find out where i lived while i could get the damage sorted for £200. i have run through it in my mind about a million times - should do that should do this but i just cant get my head around it. we all get annoyed but to do this or pull a knife like in your case .... if anything i should be doing it to him for endangering my life! :drink:

normally on forums you get people coming on an saying ... "oh if that was me, I would have beat him up etc etc"

but it comes down to the fact that there are the lowest of the low people out there, its simply not worth it .... this case for example, this was was getting beat up by a younger guy, so he goes and gets a knife

http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/date ... 478253.stm

not worth it, keep your door shut and move on (with a blast of V8)
