What do I change my RS4 for?

Guys,

My wife is driving my RS4 (Sprint Blue, 06 plate, 32k miles) whilst I'm working abroad and has said that she doesn't like it and wants a change on my return (the evil hound...) - Incidently, I have told her that it needs to be driven HARD once a week...carbon etc...!

So, do I go for a diesel with room in the back and great mpg or a hot hatch, cheaper to buy and with better mpg? - I have no kids, dogs but windsurf kit, bikes etc.

So, here's my thoughts:

Focus RS (18-26 mpg)
Focus ST-3 (24-30 mpg)
Mondeo diesel (lots mpg)
Lexus IS-F (I read aidanjaye's post and will miss the RS as much as he does - also the fake zorsts?!!??)
Seat Exeo ST diesel
Jaguar C-Type (replica < 30k gbp - never gonna happen)
Nissan GT-R Black Edition (I CANNOT AFFORD THIS, JUST LISTING A DREAM)
Nissan 370Z (18-24 mpg)

Guys - what else is out there that you would consider - nothing really appeals to me apart from the RS4, what am i missing that should be on this list?

Looking to spend < 25 for the right vehicle maybe 30 if it's super right. Happier to spend up to 20k for something with up to 25k miles on it.

If hot hatch, would like 30 mpg-ish (carefully driven) for european road-trips!

Hook a fellow RS driver up - what would you buy if you really, really had to let the RS go,

335d remapped? That'll be 5 sec 0-60 but nice and good on fuel. You won't need to pay more than 17k-20k for one.
Or the 335i again remap it to get M3 performance but less economy that the diesel.

What doesn't she like about the RS4? Too quick, too firm?

What about a Range Rover sport, forget the economy though but lots of room for gear. Women usually like driving them.

Joking aside, if you don't want / need four wheel drive then a 335i or d would be my choice.

Oooooh, didn't think of the BMW 335d, how did I miss that - an inspired choice although if I had a BMW I would obviously become a cock overnight, and the wife hates BMWs. Can't believe I hadn't thought of that.... I don't need 4 wheel drive and am moving more towards the diesel vibe for long journeys. I really can't face Range Rovers, just now ready for that in my life just yet.

Getting rid of the wife is, of course, the very next option - she doesn't like the ride of the RS4, says it's too ostentatious and has an image problem with German marques in general. She loved the ST220 and ST24, she saw them as feral and unrestrained by technological wizardry - she's a bit mental and not all there sometimes. Might trade her in actually now I've thought about it...

If a diesel, how about the B8 A4 Sline 3.0 tdi saloon or estate? They are quite fast, comfy and look good, esp with RS4 wheels.

Yep guys - all useful comments, I have a skateboard in the garage and the roads in Afghanistan aren't really the best for the RS4 - actually, I can't think of a better car to have out here - if it was fully armoured! The BMW 335d still seems pretty expensive - over 30k with 40k miles on for 2-3 years old - ouch...

Maybe I need an orange focus ST chav-mobile, so sad.........
