Rattle

new brake discs/pads fitted (because they were needed)
new tie rod ends
new anti roll bar links
every nut is tightened and there is no play in any of the joints.
You can hear it at low speeds on bumpy roads especially when turning right.

I had the same mate,

Reckon it's a loose brake pad.

Try driving with your foot lightly on the brake and see if the noise goes away, if it does then its the brake pad for sure.

Hi,

I would lift the front of the car and turn the wheel to see
if you can here it then. I ad something like this when
I had the Golf - sounded like something was inside the

Paul, following up from what Dan is saying, I once had Pagid Blue pads on my S3 and bumps from the road would cause the pads to rattle around within the caliper housing - a quick test would be to slightly touch the brake pedal with a little pressure on a stretch of road where you know the noise is prevalent..

I have just had new disks/pads fitted and it happened before and after too.
How did you solve it?

I never solved it completely really - Pagid themselves sent me some special coating fluid which formed a kind of plastic coat on the metal parts to absorb the clattering, but as you know i'm not exactly light on my brakes and eventually this burnt off!!

Solved mine by taking it to the dealer, they were absolutely no use [img]images/graemlins/24430-audibash.gif[/img]

So I took it home, got me some sticky grease and refitted the pads (after bending the clips out slightly) and made sure I gave the back of the pad a nice coating of the sticky grease.

Copperslip is the stuff to use on the rear of the pads. Any grease will melt but when copperslip melts it still leaves the copper particles and so stops squealing.

As for stopping the chattering pads, bending the clips is likely ot be the answer. [img]images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

You could find though that it isn't the brakes at all.
Have you tried doing a suspension bounce ?
I've had a shocker have a seal come loose, and that made a rattle as it moved about in the top of the shocker body.

I'm sure you'll find it Paul, just need to spend a bit of time dicking about with everything and anything that can rattle, including top mounts, lower bushes, driveshaft joints, disk stoneshield, even the centre caps on the wheels.
Oh, and it could even be something inside the tyre !

OK, it's not the pads.
Nothing from bounce test.
Not stoneshield.
Centre caps have been off and new tyres as well.

If it is a rattle then it's not the top mount [img]images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
Top mounts clunk. Your 'rattle' could be the link arms - is it a definite rattle or a bit creaky ? Link arms are not too difficult to diagnose, but it is difficult to track down which one it is (four per side). Changing them involves the dreaded pinch bolt if you find it is the uppers.
If it is more of a clicking (linked to the rotation of the wheel) then it is a CV joint.
