Afternoon Chaps,
Not sure if anyone has posted feedback on this replacement for the old F1 Asymmetric yet.
Had them fitted a couple of weeks ago for the same price as the originals (£200ea). First impressions were what I remember of F1's on my old TT. Very quiet with compliant, comfortable ride. First drive was on A roads and motorways and they were immediately more stable at speed than my old Avon ZZ3's, but the grip was lacking.
I've now scrubbed them in and they're very different. Grip levels are now greater than the old half worn ZZ3's but it's the effect on the handling and feedback that is most impressive. I always found the front end of my car a bit bouncy and difficult to establish how much grip was available. Kind of blind faith rather than feel... With the F1's I can now push much harder and feel far more confident in what the car is doing. Steering feedback is excellent and turn in nice and sharp with linear response. There's also less tuck in on slower corners. Around the country lanes where I'm braking and accelerating in quick succession the pitching at the front has been virtually eliminated making the car feel much more stable.
In summary, I actually feel for the first time that I'm experiencing an RS4 handling as it was designed to so highly recommended. Just remember the grip is pants until they're scrubbed in!
ps Nice looking tyre too. Bit PS3 looking with good rim protection.

does that apply to all tyres?
I've just replaced the (old) tyres that my RS4 came with, with some Vreds Sessantac, and I wasn't overwhelmed (as I was hoping for) by the added grip....at all

I've only done 20 miles or so with them....

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
In my experience, definitely.
First 50 miles are the worst. I've found optimum grip doesn't actually kick in until up to a few hundred miles depending on the exact tyre.

Hello Zorbs how are you, was starting to wonder if you still had the car, glad to see your still blatting it down the lanes.
It has been posted (cant remember what forum now) about the new EF1A2 tyre, I for one am excited as I highly rate the original Asymmetric (Not DSG3).
Where did you get them fitted mate(local?), and all in cost?
Will have to have a beer sometime

Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
Hi Sonny,
Had them fitted over at Elite Tyres in Rainham. Worth the 40 min journey from Kent as they're service is great and they they have a Hunter force variation balancing machine. Adds £10 per wheel but well worth it. All in cost was £420 for the two (with the fancy pants balancing).
Still really enjoying the car and terrorising the lanes at night. Even more so now! Might even pay a visit to MRC for a CAI and gutted downpipes in the near future. As I remember yours sounded really nice with the downpipes and standard exhaust.
Beer definitely. I'm away this weekend but the next is good. Perhaps a mini-meet for the Bromley contingent
ps you had another remap since your Gruppe M?

Elite tyres OK will have to give them a call, see if they do better than TSR.
Not had remap since GruppeM...watch this space.

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
Vredestein Secretsantas probably take about 200 miles or so to scrub in properly. I found mine quite 'waxy' for the first 50 miles which wasn't all bad as I was pretty much 4 wheel drifting every tight corner or roundabout I came across without much effort.
