DO NOT GET THE PS3!

See this thread, and compare those crazy sidewalls to the PS2.

Michelin won't help you much. The PS3 AO won't fit. But if you don't believe me, make sure you can take them back!

Another classic, designing a car with a tire size where only certain types (of the same brand) will fit because the tolerance is so small

Will try PS2s, some good value near-new ones on ebay Germany.

I spoke to the Michelin Man to try and apply some pressure. Initially he seemed very pumped up about the problem but after he spent days going around in circles he sounded rather deflated.

I felt let down.

Interesting read so far.
I need 4 new tyres soon and it appears that prices have gone up, some.

Been quoted £1080 all in for 4 x Pirellis and £1300 for the Michelin PS2s (Portsmouth area).
Camskill are coming in at £952 for 4 x PS2s incl delivery (thanks to the link from one of the posts above) and I will be looking to order them tomorrow.
Any feedback on Camskill gratefully accepted.

Also, are there any issues / words of warning about then taking the car to any run of the mill tyre company ie Kwikfit, ATS and the like, to have them fitted ? Is the TPMS likely to be an issue ?

Thanks in advance

Irwin

have you got your car lowered much , or standard height etc ?
just had PSS9's fitted and intend to have it so that arches are level with top of tyres unless this will ruin the ride quality , ( had it this low ,..... bit lower actually , with H&R'S , loved the look , not the ride )

Mine is as close to stock height as I could get it. When I put the billies on, as they were set out of the box, I found the car much too low and it kept grounding and I had a strange vibration. The top of the tyres was above the bottom of the arches.

I then put them as high as they will go so I don't have a huge amount of suspension travel before I hit the bump stops. Still not a problem unless I hit a particularly harsh bump or dip.

If you are running quite low then you will have more travel than me. The springs are linear though, so the ride should be about the same whatever the height.

Camskill are great, never had any issues with them delivery is pretty punctual.

TPMS should not be an issue but make sure the fitters do see them in situ.

My Local KWIK fit will not fit owner supplied tyres unless all the stickers are on the tyres and they have seen the purchase invoice, something to do with safety and quality control, but the real story might be, which i heard third hand and hearsay was that a KWIK FIT depot go busted into and thieves lifted out a few thousand tyres over a weekend and they don't want to be asked to fit their own tyres that were stolen from them in the first place!!!!!!

I ran Toyo Proxes on my Subaru before I joined the big RS6 league and they ran lovely, really smooth and quiet especially with a full new set. They are apparently less hard waring than the OEM types, but good grip. Also don't seem as good value as they used to be. I don't hear much on the RS forums on Toyo's.

A year on now.
Camskill were great and the Michelins are still going well.

A mate has offered me 4 x 265s, brand new Yokohamas.
Thoughts ?

Thanks in advance.
