Houston..I have a problem!

Post by Stalex » Tue Mar 08, 2011 10:50 pm

Running RNS-E on an 2004 S4 B6.

Symptoms are:-
When I get in the car RNS-E says nav disc unreadable in red
I start my route & the drivers info screen knows what direction I'm heading in and the name of the road I'm driving along..so it must be reading something??
I then press NAV button and says disc unreadable and loses sat nav recognition i.e. where it is....and says sat disc unreadable on RNS-E unit and NO DVD on drivers displays
RNS-E t recognises the disk as I can see software version etc when looking at menu for stuff when ejecting screen and returning it.

Bought new discs from forum member (thanks Matt!!) just to check but, unfortuantely, no different.

anyone experienced the same or advice??

Had the same problem and took the unit out and cleaned the laser lense with isotropic alcohol.

Sounds like either the laser lens in dirty, in which case cleaningit as above will fix the problem, or (worst case) the laser is failing, in which case you would need to replace it. There are a couple of members on www.audiforum.us (rabbit and Haaggie) that can usually help with the parts and instructions.
