WOT - I nearly sh*t my pants!
WOT - I nearly sh*t my pants!
Please excuse my language in the subject title. I can't really describe the experience in any other way.
I recently had an MRC remap (on top of SW0090 and went for the quiet-start mode) and have never really driven the car in a 'spirited manner' in Sport mode. Until earlier today that is. One a wide, open, clear, long stretch of A-road somewhere in the UK I pressed the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor...and held on. I did the same in second and third. I actually felt torque steer and really had to hang on, hoping the car would travel in the direction that I wanted it to. Luckily, it did.
I had to check my Jockey Y-fronts when I got home for skid marks. LOL.
It was a truly immense experience. The difference between the linear map in normal mode and the aggressive map in Sport mode is like the difference between the Moon and Uranus. Pun intended.

Re: WOT - I nearly sh*t my pants!
Really cool! I think the "standard" RS4 has more than enough power for me, but the idea of adding the remap
Just to the sport mode is tempting.
Which remap did you have exactly @MRC(I think they do more than one)?
Did it impact your insurance cost?

Re: WOT - I nearly sh*t my pants!
It was the custom (stage 2) map. In normal mode the car is a lot more driveable in town and at slow speeds as the throttle response is linear. In sport mode it is decidedly mental. The Milltek forced the issue to get the remap as, with SW0090, the minute of high (1,600 RPM) revs on a cold start was simply too loud for my road and my neighbours. MRC remapped the car with their new quiet startup mode so that the revs drop straight away to around 1,000rpm which makes the Milltek more socially acceptable at 6.00am! Thus, I wasn't really after the performance side of things, I just wanted a quieter engine start.
I declared the Milltek and remap to my insurer and they wanted to know the percentage increase from the manufacturers stated power figures. It still doesn't make 414bhp so it's technically a 'negative increase' so my insurer was okay with that and didn't increase the premium. It did concern me when the agent on the phone asked me exactly where the Milltek exhaust was installed though... LOL.

Yes, the remap makes the car what is should have been out the box IMO. Normal mode feels pedestrian by comparison.

Has anyone had the MRC stage II done without milltek installed
In the car?

What sort of figures do you now produce? Precats still there or removed?

Re: WOT - I nearly sh*t my pants!
so you guys have the stage 2 custom remap with OEM exhaust?
is it triggered only with Sport mode?
did you notice that much of a difference?
if I did a remap I would surely only did it on top, as I like having a standard driving mode as well

Yes, triggered with sport mode only but you can have it on always if you want (AKAIK).pisquano wrote:so you guys have the stage 2 custom remap with OEM exhaust?

Big difference as the map takes the 75% torque limit off in the first 3 gears.

Re: WOT - I nearly sh*t my pants!
I wonder if my insurance as well as my warranty would allow for that

Re: WOT - I nearly sh*t my pants!
I was speaking to the guys at Camberley Audi yesterday and was told that the only thing SW0090 does is raise the revs and fuelling on coldstarts, so surely by removing the high startup revs you effectively negate the SW upgrade?
