Hi all,
I have a B8 S4 saloon and my car passenger front window was smashed by vandals last night who then opened my glove box. When I got back to the car, the alarm wasn't going off. I could see the alarm was armed as the red LED was flashing on the driver side door and the doors were locked.
Should the alarm have gone off? Would the window breaking not have set it off via motion/pressure sensors? Is this something that has possibly been disabled via VAGCOM? Anyone know what module and how I can check?
Any ideas and help would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

RE: Alarm did not go off when window smashed
Not sure whether the B8 has interior motion sensors - I remember reading somewhere that they were being left off because of the number of false alarms in hot climates.
Gone: 2006 B7 RS4 Avant (Phantom Black)
If it was done overnight, even if the alarm did go off it will do an auto reset after a period of time, then disable itself completely if it goes off more than x times without disarm/arm. It's intended to prevent the battery going flat because e.g. an interior light got left on.
Have you heard yours go off to know if it'd be loud enough to wake you up anyway? I know mine is incredibly puny for the price of my car....

Re: Alarm did not go off when window smashed
Hi all,
I agree the alarm is quiet but my wife was in and didn't hear anything and neither did my neighbours (I was out).
Is it something Vagcom would have logged? Anyone know if there are sensitivity levels for example if people have dogs etc and leave them in the car?
I'm tempted to book the car in but I fear it will be a huge waste of time at a main dealer.

Re: Alarm did not go off when window smashed
My car got broken into while it was parked on my drive right outside the hall window, my wife was in the lounge about 10ft away and didn't hear the alarm! The alarm is SO quiet that it is IMHO completely and utterly useless.alex_123_fra wrote:I agree the alarm is quiet but my wife was in and didn't hear anything and neither did my neighbours (I was out).
Yes, all alarm actuations are logged.alex_123_fra wrote:Is it something VAGCOM would have logged?
Not that I'm aware of, but I know that the B6 and B7 have an interior sense defeat switch and a tilt sense defeat switch in the drivers door pocket - does the B8 have the same?alex_123_fra wrote:Anyone know if there are sensitivity levels for example if people have dogs etc and leave them in the car?
