Who has no problems with their car?
I know people only come on forums to talk about their problems, but I get the impression that RS4's were not built to last more than 5 years. Coil packs, DRC, carbon buildup, rattles, squeaks, tire pressure monitor, engine lights, the list goes on.
Are there any members who don’t have any issues?
I have owned a Porsche Boxster S (04) for nearly 3 years now and it has never missed a beat. I mean nothing at all has gone wrong (karma will probably make the engine fail now).
I am looking to get an RS4 as we are starting a family and need the extra space, but ownership does not seem that simple..... I have owned all sorts of performace cars in the past and none seem to suffer the issues the RS4 does. Can someone put my mind at ease?

RE: Who has no problems with their car?
Apart from DRC replacement, I've had no problems at all in 4 years (and the latest DRC parts seem to be infinitely more reliable for all concerned). The coil pack notice may well be linked to some warning lights - I wouldn't know as I haven't had any errors, and don't need replacements.

In nearly 5 years I've had the OS auxiliary radiator replaced and the front shocks (DRC) replaced under warranty. That's all.
I've also owned 2 B6 S4s and a B6 1.9TDi - and none of them needed anything other than servicing.

I have owned 5 different Audis in the past and they have all had various problems. Audis have a reputation for bullet proof quality, but I don't think so.

RE: Who has no problems with their car?
I bought a '56 plate avant in May 2009 with 4500 miles on it. Today it will reach 30,000. In that time I have only spent money on tyres, insurance, servicing and warranty. All recalls have been carried out by Audi with no charge. AFAIK the car is on its original DRC but at the last check (2 weeks ago) there were no signs of ill health!
The only fault I currently have is condensation in one of the headlights-this I hope to cure when de-tangoing for a £100 in early March.
So touch wood I have either been incredibly lucky..or these cars are generaly reliable in the main.
I am more than happy with my RS4 experience

I got every problem in the book, i also got every option in the book, i still love it, i look at it as more of a hobby than a problem now.i dont feel right if i haven't got something to do on it, my car is also on 30k

I know you know, but I will put it into perspective.churchwa wrote:I know people only come on forums to talk about their problems, but I get the impression that RS4's were not built to last more than 5 years. DRC (Made by KW) is the real problem that we inherited from the C5 RS6 albeit a few monior modifications, the latest replacements part has solved the problem (weak seal) Audi have addressed this with the 5 year 75k extended parts warranty.
Coil Packs, it’s not just RS4s effected its most petrol engine Audis (EML on due to coil packs?) Again Audi have rectified this by campaign 28E9
Carbon Build up is a by product of FSI again not just the RS4
Rattles and squeaked, Come on the car is few years old now, not directly related to the RS4, however if you have SS+ or aftermarket coilovers you will have to expect this due to the stiffer ride.
I am not sure what is up with the TPMS, we know batteries do have a limited shelf life and are sensitive to cold temperatures (experienced from the recent cold weather).
Ok so I am sticking up for the RS4; it would seem the weaker components are to blame, I was reading that Audi are actually one of the most common vehicles to have broken down, taken over Ford and FIAT, would you Adam and Eve it!!!!
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

TPMS, DRC and FSI all have significant benefits when working lest we forget!

RE: Re: Who has no problems with their car?
Had mine a few months and no issues other than there aren't enough good roads to make the most of the car.
I feel SO proud EVERY time I walk up to it. Had 'S' Audi's for 10 years and wouldn't dream of swapping for anything else.
A great car, buy one.

RE: Re: Who has no problems with their car?
Had a problem with the seat bolster - sorted under warranty - and my offside headlamp mists up very occasionally but that's it. The rest of the last 10 months has shown me that the RS4 is the best car I've ever owned and it's not even close....
Coming up to 4 years of ownership on a car that will be 5 in July. Had front DRC changed some 50k miles ago under warranty and no issues since. Seized exahust valve replaced under warranty and no issues since. In fact he only item I did have issue with was brakes but changing from the soft OEM Pagids to EBC yellowstuffs has solved pad deposition issue leading the vibration. EPC warning solved with running injector cleaner t rough a couple o times in succession.
So in 64k miles of driving to date I've replaced pads and discs once at my own cost and the rest is oil / servicing. Not bad for the number of miles it has done.

Zero real issues. Car had 51K miles on it when I bought it. Front DRC was changed before I collected the car. The car has some quirks (takes a couple of seconds to start in cold, wet weather for the first time, first gear is a bit difficult to engage when cold, fuel consumption borders on the criminal) but it's a fantastic car. With MRC Magic bestowed upon it, I can drive it like a Fiesta when I just need to get from A to B. Or I can tame most cars on the road should the need arise.
And then there's the 4WD that allows me to drive in conditions that prevent lesser cars from getting around.
And then there's the load area for putting junk into for trips to the local dump or storing large, bulky items from B&Q.
A near-perfect all-rounder for me!

2007 RS4 Avant in Mugello Blue + Milltek non-res valved, MRC air filter, MRC remap with silent-mode startup
Without tempting fate.....
NO DRC ISSUES.
COOLER PIPES OK.
TPMS OK.
But....
Loose drivers door handle...warranty.
Delating bolsters...warranty.
And thats it i think???
All the well known issues have eluded me...well the very expensive ones anyway.
