Oil Leak!

Post by drjones » Sat Jan 10, 2004 1:09 pm

She's sprung a leak, looks like the cam cover had the mirrors all over it to try and find it, occasionally you get an oil smell too. took it this morning to the dealer they think the same and will try this first, hard to believe but even on the ramps you cant see a darn thing! Had the cam cover gasket replaced (warranty) no change still leaking, the dealer now thinks that it could be the variable valve timing mechanism, apparently you have to change the whole unit!! which they have now ordered. has anybody ever had a similar problem, you occasionally get a burnt oil smell come from the left hand side of the engine bay!
