The car is an '06 so is almost 5 years old (August), only just broke 40k the other day. I know when I'd bought the car it had just had the DRC replaced under warranty but I was led to believe this was more a global recall rather than a standard warranty job.

So I should be able to go to Audi, kick up a stink about the whole DRC business and should be able to get some sort of kickback? I hope so.

In saying that, I've got it booked in at Whetstone Audi (North London) - not sure if anyone's had any dealings with them. But I'm seriously considering a coilover replacement as a quick Google search just shows how many people are having issues with DRC...

Really ruined my day!

Thanks again for all your posts, they're very much appreciated.

Whestone Audi are clueless, they rejected my DRC repair, having never heard of the Audi UK goodwill

TBH mate, I'd save yourself the grief and book it into Chingford, as I think I recall another member who had it done their under goodwill warranty

Im trying to get mine into Camberley at a suitable time (did have it booked for tomorrow) ... If I cant get down there I'll put mine into Chingford

Sticking together is what we do - stops the dealers being able to get away with any bullsh*t!

That seems to be the opening gambit of many dealers - hoping that you'll just pay up and save them the hassle of having to get the OK from Audi UK to do it under the 5 year warranty.

My advice is go to Audi UK first (MD's email address is at start of thread), get their OK then go to the dealership. Audi Wimbledon were aware of the warranty and were v helpful.

Good luck!

My RS4 (30000) miles goes for a service this week. I think the DRC my be faulty (knocking noise from front over speed bumps). It is 4 1/2 years old and not under any warranty. Am I right in thinking that if the DRC needs replacing it wll be done foc by Audi UK. If the dealer doesn't know this - any advice on how to make them aware.

Bigi -

Just use this thread as reference. I started by sending an email to Jeremy Hicks (Audi UK) stating that my DRC was faulty and which dealer I should take it to so that it could be replaced. Meanwhile I called my local dealer and explained the situation to them (they didn't offer up the warranty without being asked!) and they said they'd investigate. Basically a two pronged attack on Audi!

Eventually had a call from one of Jeremy Hicks team to discuss, I advised them I'd also been in contact with the local dealer and they said they'd talk between themselves. Then had a call from my local dealer an hour or so later saying that they'd honour the work/parts FOC.

It's obvious that they're well aware of the issue, I don't think you need to go in all guns blazing, I certainly didn't, you just need to put it to them that you're aware of the faults with the DRC system and that you'd like to have it looked at under the good will guarantee. That should at least get you on the right track.

Hope that helps.

Mmmmm, we will see.
Car is in with weeping front shock. Although susp noted as having slight knocking.(noted by tech), this and weeping is within audi tolerances.
Mmmmmmmmm, trying to tangle out of it?

Indeed, having dropped mine off this morning I'm suddenly getting pangs of anxiety as the girl on the front desk noted "we'll need it in for a couple of days to check it over and ensure that the problem you have identified is actually to do with the DRC". She also added "we can't just do this for free as the parts are very expensive"... NO SH T SHERLOCK!

I'll not be the happiest of campers if they try and get out of this one... I'll keep all informed of my progress. But already the fact that they won't have it back to me till Thursday has put a damper on things...

Final update from me (bet you're all happy about that) - just went and picked up the car - the booking in girl lied about Thursday apparently and they turned it round within the day and even gave it a wash and vac for good measure.

Very happy days again after the doubts I had this morning, but now the car's back to it's best without any money exchanging hands so I couldn't really have wished for a better outcome.

Again, if you find yourself in this situation and you've got less than 75k or the car is less than 5 years old (forget about FASH, doesn't matter), there should be no reason that you cannot get the DRC replaced under warranty (my invoice came back listed as a warranty job). I certainly didn't.

Hope that helps anyone found in this predicament...

I thought they are supposed to leave the car overnight and re-check the DRC pressure hasn't dropped?

so can someone confirm the nomenclature of the new DRC shocks - is it "Gen 3" and "Rev B setup" that I should be asking for should I need them

I get a knocking from the front left wheel when on full knock but not sure that is DRC going (again) - is it just steerin hitting the limit?
