B7 S4 Mirror Caps - Which finish???

I have a 2006 B7 S4 in black without the optional brushed ali mirror caps.. and have been thinking about getting some, but I'm not sure which is the OEM finish??

I like the brushed ali finish, which i think is the right Audi option... but I also quite like the chrome finish, as it matches the window & grille trim.

Any suggestions gents?

Personally, I think the chrome option, whilst matching other details, looks cheap. Maybe it's the large surface area.

Brushed aluminium looks more elegant to me.

I've just been quoted £405.56 inc VAT for the pair

Is this right? The "yoof" in the parts dept sounded quite unsure of himself!

Presumably that's the price for the entire mirrors, as opposed to just the covers.

Do they sell the covers separately?

I would have thought you could pick them up on eBay for a lot less.

If it's anything like the mirrors for my S8, you can only get the alloy caps with complete mirror assemblies at £410 EACH, not incl glass of course

Personally I wouldn't bother unless you are sure the car will only be left in places where they won't go missing one day/night. Mine were stolen from a very quiet cul-de-sac on a Saturday night, so maybe the stealthy option is a better bet?

The vinyl wrap option would potentially give the best of both worlds?

yeah, get the left one Ali brushed wrap and the right one Chrome wrap - best of both worlds

The B7 mirror caps aren't even alloy, the are just plastic but plated, the B6 ones were proper alloy ones. Quite easy to tell the difference, the metal one will feel much colder to the touch than the plastic one.

Mine's an 04 B6 and that's only got plastic covers

My mate's B5 RS4 has metal.

bit of an epic bump, but i was just passing audi camberley and thought i'd pop in to ask their price for the B7 S4 ali mirror caps...

£280 inc. VAT for the pair, altho audi stopped making them in Nov 2010!!

so, for all you with ali caps.. keep an eye out for theeevs, and try not to damage them. if you do you'll have to replace them with ebay jobs or boggo painted plastic like mine.
