Scalextrics real life race tracks
Scalextrics real life race tracks
These are rather impressive replicas of a few known race circuits in slot car form.
This guy from the states has a pretty impressive one in his basement.

From Memory - Noone does a RS4 as a slot car .. Best site to find cars is http://www.getslotted.co.uk/
best Forum for slot cars in the uk is http://www.slotforum.com/
I used to run a Scalextric Digital track - Digital system allowed over taking and upto 8 car running on a track - all cars had a Digital ID so could run on the same slot .. Overtaking was done on special track sections with a button on the controller.. was great fun. PC laptiming system and refuelling "system" too .. needed to pit and refuel based on "usage"
Used to run 2 hour races against ghost cars "driving them selves"
Still have it in the loft ... Took it up and dismantled the tables as i got a 7th Pinball machine
here are some pics

If you want a laugh .. car eye video

Ex RS6 C6 Driver, gone but not forgotten.. The best car I have ever owned
Bloody hell G that's impressive, did not know they have come such a long way. Sounds fun!
"Slot car dealer" that did make me laugh.
Off subject I just found out one of my work colleagues is a model railway enthusiast (he gets pissed off when I call it a train set)it was like he had just "come out of the closet" lol

Its a fantastic (cheap relative to "real" cars ) hobby .. you can spend about 20 PLUS quid modi'ing a car .. tyres... gears... weights .. Motors... I have to admit to spending 5 GBP per "unique compound from Germany " tyre for some of the cars I raced .. and yes it does make a difference

G are those the sticky tyres? Think I saw them on the Gadget show once. I'm impressed at whats out there, and I can see how it can be addictive once you start modding.

Yup Ortmann tyres .. once glues on, trued up and scuffed they would easily knock 20% off a lap time versus "stock" tyressonny wrote:G are those the sticky tyres? Think I saw them on the Gadget show once. I'm impressed at whats out there, and I can see how it can be addictive once you start modding.
Slot.It cars where amazingly detailed
http://slot.it/INGLESE/Models.html
My favorite was the Rothmans 962's
http://slot.it/immagini/360/Porsche962_ ... e962R.html
However look at the jag
http://slot.it/immagini/360/Jaguar_360/Jaguar.html
As you can see on the 962 Slot.it had a HUGE battle to keep the cigarette advertising as these are classed as toys and hence fall under no cigi agverts to kids issues ... So they shipped every car logo'd up as "RACING" logos .. and a spare set of decals for original look

Amazing detail, the Rothmans looks good, almost too good to use on a track.
Just been reading the slot car forum, cant believe how Scalextrics have come on in recent years. My "geek" work colleague next too me, informs me that model railways (train sets) have too progressed, and have gone digital too, having microchips in them enabling voice commands and such (think he stands there talking to his trains dressed as a railway conductor lol
The Scalextrics loft conventions are amazing, I read this guys (Richard) project loft conversion, a lot and time had gone into it, made a very interesting read. http://www.slotforum.com/forums/index.p ... opic=44908
