Should Aux Rads be repaired immediately?

Post by HYFR » Sat Jan 29, 2011 7:09 pm

hi guys

car was meant to go to Camberley Audi today, but as its a long way away, schedule meant I had to re-schedule

car identified as having one leaking aux rad, just wondering if I should refrain from driving it until it gets to Audi?

Can it do any damage, or does it mean its just leaking coolant, and so as long as coolant is a min level or above its ok??

muchos appreciatos

:D

So long as it's topped up with coolant it'll be ok for a bit.

Mine have been leaking for 9 months now with a cup full of coolant a week it's not a problem, I depends on how bad your leak is. I noticed a faint whisp of steam coming from the N/S rad this morning when I walked away from the car so it's still leaking. The leak seems to be not as bad in winter as I assume they are cooler?

R33 - just a case of bulk buying some G12?

Yep, I'm just starting my second container so I've used about £25 worth so far. At about £35 a year it's cheaper than replacing them ;-)

Feck, that is cheap in bulk! Is the G12 the coolant same as most vehicles use - hence available from most automotive suppliers - or is there anything in particular to look for? Might be worth having some handy, as I've had to top mine up recently. That was a freebie, but cannot push my luck and expect that everytime!
