jet wash from hell!!
jet wash from hell!!
Went clay pigeon shotting last saturday Lingfield and while there the car got very muddy and dirty and have not had the time to clean it during the week so yesterday while filling up at the tesco garage (99ron of course) saw there jet was was empty and as my car was really dirty thought i`d give it a blast. I used the jet spray to remove the dirt then my mind must of gone somewhere else i then used the dreaded brush with foam. It all looked good when i finished but when i got home and the car was dry thats when i noticed in horror the marks on the bonet, the boot, the doors etc, and realised why i haven`t used one of these for 6 years!!
Off i popped down to Tesco to see the manager of the store who happened to be a a young lady who was very helpful. She came out and looked at the car and was quite amazed what the brush had done to the car. She took some photos filled out a form (customer vehicle damage form) which goes to there head office to sort out.
having a good look round the car what it needs is a good detail to get rid of the brush marks from all over the car, i have the equipment to do it but why should i do it in my time when its there equipment that damaged my paint.
Should be interesting what they come back with.

RE: jet wash from hell!!
A friend of mine is a store manager in London and told me what the proceedure is, which is already what the manger has already done but suggested i write a letter to the head office quot insurance then this will back up my claim and speed up the process which of course i want sorted out soon as.
hello Chris
It was very muddy there wasnt it ? , jet washed mine at home mid week , but no brushing , removed mud but no substitute for actually washing the car
good luck with the claim

What are peoples' thoughts on washing with well water?

I had an experience with damage from Tesco - the delivery van driver reversed into my garage downpipe and bent the guttering. Tesco's were really good - we got the work done and paid for it, and Tesco sent a cheque by return of post - no quibble = fantastic service. I hope your experience is as good.

The real annoying thing is i NEVER use these jet washes at garages, i religiously use the 2 bucket wash method after i have snow foamed the car, then paint clean, polish and so on. This must of been a bad brainwave while i was filling up at the garage. The manager of Tesco was very good, think she even enjoyed a ride in the car when i drove her back to customer services. I don`t think i will have a problem as long as they pay for a good paint correction which is aboout £500 from a good detailer.
well finally got a letter today from Tesco customer service, and of course they have come back stating that since I reported it they shut the jet wash had their contractors to have a look and see if there was anything they could cause the damage, (as if they are going to admit it) and they reported it was working fine and also no-one else has reported any damage to their car. They have come back to me and will not pay for the damage, and after a long talk with the Tesco customer service they will not budge on this, even though they have sent no-one to look at the car.
Now me I am up for fight and will see this through, I do not like the idea of these big companies acting in this way and walking all over people. I`ve now sent a recorded letter to them stating under the supply of service and goods act 1984 it is there duty to rectify this problem, and the balance of probabilities this was caused by the brush on the jet wash.
The next stage will be small claims court, if they play silly buggers.
I`m doing this out of principle that their equipment damaged my car, and I have a report from a vehicle repair shop stating the car has brush marks all over which I will use in the next stage.
Let us see how this goes.

In all fairness although the service is provided by Tesco, they have no control over how the previous customer has used the jetwash and whether there were any contaminants left over on the brush which would affect the next customers car.
Realistically speaking theyre not able to check its operation after every time a customer uses it.
