Question is whether it's worth picking up a 2nd hand unit off of a standard car or whether anyone has experience of getting one rebuilt (if indeed this is economically feasible)?
Rebuild RS4 gearbox?
Rebuild RS4 gearbox?
With the power that's going through my gearbox it's no surprise that it's started to give up the ghost a bit. Idler shaft is very noisy, bit of a crunch 1st to 2nd and sometimes baulks going into first.

RE: Rebuild RS4 gearbox?
Loads of info on this over on AudiSRS. General consensus seems to be "buyer beware" when buying a 2nd hand box as many of them have worn synchros and/or whine. JHM do a full rebuild kit including the uprated synchro kit. It's not cheap to do a proper job though.

Thanks for that. Had a quick look for JHM but couldn't find anything?Blue_Thunder wrote:Loads of info on this over on AudiSRS.
