ECU upgrade!
Re: ECU upgrade!
Thanks, yes a bit clearer.
I have booked it into BR Motorsport who did the work originally. I reckon it is running off the normally aspirated engine. I have been told it sounds like it is dumping all the pressure before it gets through the exhaust system.

Re: ECU upgrade!
Sounds a good idea. Hopefully something simple like a split hose.
I'm sure you will enjoy the drive home
BR Motorsport are in Leamington Spa aren't they? Used to take my Golf GTI there. Wasn't sure they were still around.

Re: ECU upgrade!
I used to take my Golfs to BRMotorsport too. I thought Brian Rickets had left the business and someone else had taken over, but without the expertise. I bought a brand new Golf GTI engine off of him for £450 - it had only ever been air run, and he had about 20 of them !
Last time I spoke to them I was far less than impressed. Bought some Porsche wheels off them that turned out to be poor replicas with the worst centre caps I have ever seen (I was told the wheels and caps would be genuine). Maybe they have changed hands again...

Yes went to BRM a few times after GTI Engineering went bust (GTI Eng now part of BBR). Used to be OK, but hadn't heard of them for a long while. Always used to enjoy going to GTI Engineering at Silverstone. In fact enjoyed it so much that I rolled my 16V GTI on the way to a rolling road session. Always rated Graham Wort (?) workshop manager at GTI Engineering. Top bloke Anyone else remember him?
Sorry to hijack the thread.
Looking forward to hearing how Rob gets on.

Re: ECU upgrade!
Thanks for all the advice guys
I have now got my car backed fixed.
Not quite sure what the problem was a few small things I think. Not expensive at all to fix.
Dean at Auto Deutch fixed it with out replacing many parts.
The outcome is I have never drove a car so fast.
Borrowed an M3 EVO for a few weeks. Not even close.
I dont know if I am getting carried away but having drove my mates 2002 Porsche Turbo I would say it is not far off that kind of performance. Am I being daft?
Anyway had the problem day one ( 4 months) and now can really start to enjoy the car.

Er, yes.
I'm sure it's a very quick car, but a Porsche Turbo? No, sorry mate.
Re: ECU upgrade!
Glad to hear it is performing properly now
Would have been interesting to hear what was wrong.

Yes I think I was getting carried away.
Having drove the car a few times now and got used to the speed, it is quick but not 911 Turbo quick.
Just getting Giddy

Re: ECU upgrade!
Thanks again for the info! I notice Dippy that you have an APR bipipe. Was this for performance gain or a protective measure and would you advise its use with just a stage 1 tune and no other engine mods?
revo is better, that is the only difference. i know LOL
