Track Day Tyres

OK, looks liI wil soon have a spare set of std 17" Avus
wheels lying around in the garage (Cheers Gary)
I am thinking of using the old set of wheels for trackdays and would like to use track day tyres on these.

What trackday tyres have people used and what did you think of them.
Also an idea on cost and where to get them would be useful.
