S4 Powerchip Software for Nothing!!!!!
S4 Powerchip Software for Nothing!!!!!
Hey does anyone know anything about Powerchip software. I live in Sydney and I drive a 2000 S4. I enquired about a Powerchip and was told that for A$1990 they would install software that would boost the power from 195kw to 230kw without any hardware installation. Does that make sense and if so, why couldn't I just acquire the software and install it myself for nothing???
Re: S4 Powerchip Software for Nothing!!!!!
Some chips require a daughter-board to be soldered onto your ECU, so this is a non-starter. More recent developments include programming via the diganostic port (without touching the ECU), but they are heavily encoded and unless you are a software hacker by trade, you would be unlikely to be able to copy it.
p.s. My advice would be to buy from a reputable tuner, not just the cheapest solution offered - someone like MTM, APR or Revo.

Thanks for the advise Nige, you're right Powerchip is the cheapest, APR is A$2500 but includes a new ECU, chip and 2 programs.

There are a couple of Audi owners from down under post on this forum, maybe they could give you advice on any tuners in Oz?

Like Nige says, go to a tuner who has a good reputation locally. Repairing your car will be costly if it goes wrong.
